Question about paint jobs done on Evo VIIIs
I've heard from a few of you guys who already own Evos that it seems to have a sub par paint job done on it. Is this the case with most or all Evos? Is it that the paint is very thin and chips easily, and is their any cure? I'm worried that after a few years my car will look like hell. Can someone respond to this issue?
Paint seems to have been applied sparingly using just enough to cover the panels. Underside of hood, fender parts beneath hood, radiator cowl, and other parts that are not readily visible do not even appear to have received final clear coat, at least on my Apex Silver car. Finish looks fine on exposed panels but paint seems highly susceptible to gravel chips. Protection can be provided by the application of a 3M ScotchCal or Armourfend type clear film protective laminate. Most are totally invisible, guaranteed for up to 4 years, require professional application, and can cost nearly $1000 depending on how much you decide to cover. Still cheaper than repainting the front end every couple of years. Here is a link for a custom Evo kit. Prices do not include installation.

I've already pointed out 3 -4 paint bubbles to my mitsu service manager. I made sure he put it in the vehicle history, so if there is a problem, it's been previously noted.

When did you get your car?!?

This is sure something I'll put on my Evo...
I guess if you do the front end, it'll be better than using a front bra
