Prepping for paint job

Looking to get a decent paint job for my DD evo soon. I don't have thousands to spend to its out the question. I have a Tarmac black evo, gonna keep it black. What sorta prep work should be done to insure a decent finish? Thanks

+1 Make sure to get out all the imperfections in the body before bringing it in for paint.

maaco is all franchised, so there are good ones and bad ones. if you're going to do all the prep work then maaco wouldn't be a terrible choice. most of the cost of a paintjob is in the prep work anyhow

best way is to wet sand it yourself make sure you dont miss anything and tape everything you dont want painted. Its more cheaper that way. Iam just lucky enough that my next door neighbor is a professional car painter so he helping me to paint my car

do a 1500 sand paper and wet sand it very lightly and than use a finishing compound and it would look like new. Dont do to much of wet sanding or you will go through the clear ! just a LIGHT sanding will do. use this
http://www.jbtoolsales.com/meguiars-...ompound-16-oz/ you can buy it anywhere in your local auto part stor. just rub it on with a soft towel and do it by hand

make sure to not go cheap on the masking tape. I you are just going to cut/buff then i would still recommend taping off the trim so the rubbing compound does not get stuck in there.
