ATP 3071R Installed, All smiles one question

So I just got my car back from the tuner. Now this is just with the turbo kit installed without any engine management system or Flash as my Power fc will be here tomorrow or day after so will tune the car then. But I have to say it is an absolute pleasure to drive. No lag virtually better than stock. And from any RPMs it feels like it is breathing much freely. No falling on its face after 6000rpms pulls strong till the redline. I have the following mods on the car

ATP 3071R turbo kit
DC manifold
K&N intake
Greddy Evo2 exhaust
Cat removed
HKS Twin GDMAX clutch and flywheel

Stock injectors, stock cams and stock engine management system. Running 1.2 bars. Oh and yes the injectors are coming with the power fc

I need to know how much boost can i run on this turbo efficeintly?

i love how people upgrade turbo's to bigger ones and say how they spool faster than stock.

i think its the down time envolved they are so eager to get the car back, when they finally do they get out there, give it some gas and think 4k, 4.5k is faster than stock spool.

enjoy the turbo my friend!

I don't think its the spool so much as the extra torque made at the same rpm as before.
Less PSI on the guauge, but alot more pull at the same RPM...

I mean to say it does not have the lag that some people were saying that it would have and maybe when it comes it comes so strong that it feels that the lag is reduced. Either ways i feel the car seems like it is breathing better... back to the question... how much boost can i run on this turbo

i dont understand why you'd upgrade the turbo without doing all the prelimary bolt-ons first...

btw, it doesn't matter what turbo it is, it matters what fuel you're running...on straight pump i'd say from 21-23 psi safely with a good tune.

throw some race gas or pump/meth in there and obviously you're going to be able to crank the boost up.

No baseline dyno

Also i will be running 97 octane all the time so it is something in between race and 93 octane. How much boost can i make on that...

oh and regarding installing the turbo before the injectors and Power Fc. I know it was not a very wise decision but my car was in for the clutch and flywheel install and the guy said he can do it just there and then... so i went ahead with it... I am running very conservative boost and there is no knock in the car... I am not driving it much anyways until the powerfc arrives hopefully tomorrow.

thanks

4k-4.5k? This is an ATP 3071, try 3k-3.5k buddy! that is very close to stock, so I hope you can see why it would feel like that much more power? It is a bigger turbo yes, but not a 35r bigger and it is full ball bearing.

i was thinking more along the lines of cams, front mount, better ic piping, and a tune (which you're already getting).

i understand that the guy said he'd do it so you might as well, but if i were you I'd buy and get these parts installed before you get tuned so you make the most of your turbo kit...otherwise you're really not reaching the full potential an aftermarket turbo can give you.

I have this kit. With supporting mods, good fuel, (95-100 octane)and good tuning, you can boost up to 30 psi. I am at 26 psi now. Next month I will push it to 30 and see what it will do.

I understand but I have lower IC piping which came with the Kit and people tell me upper IC pipping is not that important is it??

I searched for front mount intercoolers and alot of ppl said that they saw no gains with a new front mount intercooler with a turbo size similar to the 3071R so i thought maybe i don't need it for now... Cams I will get soon..

The tunning part is not a problem as the tuner is a friend of mine and he will tune it as many times as i want no charge

Also cnoevo is right spool is around 3-3.5 k

Good to see people are happy with the kit as I am

Thanks guys

depending on the gear you are in. 1st...too fast to tell, 2nd about 10 psi (also very fast to climb and get to a higher rpm level) 3rd about 19 psi, 4th, 5th all max boost 19-25+++ psi.
