drop in filter intake

I have a major question... Getting an intake with a maf adapter means you have to get a tune is what I'm told becuase you will most likely lose hp. But a drop in filter does not have a maf adapter meaning its going to throw a check engine light. Is it that impotant to get any kind of intake. I've heard that the stock intake holds up to 400hp. If you get an intake, how much does a tune cost?

ok... something serious is about to happen to you... get ready for it... try searching, another thread, sounding just like this, was just started a few days ago. search search search...

to give you a brief answer... stock intake is fine if you arent going crazy with mods, get a drop in filter, dont need a tune for that really... however, if you get a drop in, boost controller and full exhaust, it is a nice thing to get in touch with a tuner, have them mail you a flash for your car and open your eyes quite a bit.

No tune needed with drop in filter and it wont throw a check engine light. You will pick up about 4 whp with the drop in filter 12+ with the intake but it must be tuned. The Tune costs $200-400+ depending on if it is Custom or Mail-in. Check out DynoFlash in the vendor section. Al is the Man!!

You need to search on this site and learn about your Evo.

if you read it, it was once or twice, read the other 4000 threads, and go with the popular opinion... also, if you want a drop in, i have a slightly used (2 months) k and n im trying to get rid of ... would sell it farely cheap. its a good way to go when you are starting... i just have surpassed that part of things so i dont need it anymore
