Welcome to the world of performance cars. I get 20-22 MPG. If you're racing and idling the car a lot you're bound to get closer to 18. In my car at 1/4 tank I have roughly 3-4 gallons left. The low gas light leaves me at about 1-2 gallons, meaning I've got about 20-30 miles left before I run out.

If you're an agressive driver and do the proper car warm-up and cool-down then I would say your mileage is normal.

During my break in I only got about an extra mile per gallon because I kept the tach under 4000RPM and drove slow. After break-in I took my car on a long drive (95% highway) and only got 24MPG. The sticker says 28 highway, I know I'm never going to see that.

It has more to do with your shift points than anything else. The more you drive in high RPMs and in boost the more fuel it's gonna suck. I've managed to kill an entire tank in 180 miles in my NA Lancer. 150 in an Evo... Could be way worse.

If you are getting that low of gas mileage then you are driving your car hard.. (IN BOOST) Or something is wrong..

Usually when i fill it is ~10Gal.. which is ~140-160miles.. this is driving hard. Which is about what u are getting..

On my breakin i got much better mileage.

Yeah, it is all how you drive it, and what type of driving you do.

Drive conservatively. It's not the car by itself, it's as much the driver. The free flowing fuel's there to prevent lean conditions, your foot and your right hand are what's determining how much extra fuel you're burning.

That seems pretty normal from what I have seen, during break in I was getting about 220-240 on the tank....after break in with me driving hard on it about 185-200. It's way to much fun to worry about gas

I drive an '03 OZ with 6500 miles and I usually get about 220- 240 miles on 9.4 gallons of gas.. which roughly figures to 24-25 miles per gallon. I don't drive that conservatively, and i do a lot of starting and stopping. I also do a lot of highway and city driving. Just my two cents. Also as time goes by and your engine breaks in, you will notice better gas mileage.

I got 280 miles out of a tank on my Evo last week. this is with lots of stop and go traffic. When I refilled, I put in 12.8 gallons of fuel....ach! Down to the fumes! roughly 22mpg.

I got 320 miles out of another tank while doing mostly highway driving. I put 12 gallons back in when refuelling. roughly 26mpg....as posted on the window sticker!

The best I've gotten was 280, and that was 65% highway and 35% city. The best I've gotten with 85% city driving and lots of boost was 230 miles. The worst I've gotten was 210 miles on a full tank. The car isn't bad for fuel economy, given the high-performance nature of this vehicle. At least we don't drive SUV's around

As its been said before, it has more to do with foot management. With a light foot on the pedal, expect to see a much more improvement in fuel economy, as opposed to having a heavy foot. Try not to boost as much as well, and that should also improve gas mileage as well.

By the way, is it okay, with an electronic boost controller, to decrease the boost to 16.5psi for daily driving and 19psi for racing? I know it seems like a ridiculous question, but I'm curious about this.

I'm in the same boat as Secret Chimp. I get in the low 20's on my tanks fo gas. I filled up this morning with 11-12 gallons and had about 270 miles on the tank. I think the lowest I've filled up at is with like 240 on the clock.

Then again I also don't drive hard, the car is a commuter, 26 or so miles each way. There is stop and go, but there's not a lot of high rev or on boost times. I think the high revving kills you more than the stop and go.
