Comp Cams warning

I decided last night around 10pm to install my Comp 280+ cams. At 11pm intake cam is in and I'm putting exhaust cam in and notice that the stock CAS bolt wouldn't fit. I clean the grease out of the end of the cam to get a better look a the threads and realize THERE ARE NO THREADS. This is typical of my luck. I just wanted to swap a set of cams in quickly and go out for some late night hunting. Anyway I search all over the shop looking for a bolt that is similar to the stock bolt only smaller (12mm vs 10mm) and after 20min. I find what I need in some obscure drawer in my tool box. I got lucky. I tapped the hole for a 10mmx1.25, which is the perfect size if this happens to any of you, and put the cam in. This ate up an hour of time so a two hour job became 3. Anyway, point is, make sure to open the bag and look at the exhaust cam before tearing all your stuff down. It could save you alot of heartache.

On another note, these cams kick ***. Power increase is definately noticeable over my GCS272i/264e set up, which worked awesome with the stock turbo(12.1 @ 117 on straight 93), but seemed to be too small for the bigger turbo.
I have to log it, but spool seems to be slightly improved(~100rpm). Is is definately no worse and I can't tell any appreciable loss in low end. Power from mid up is very strong. Much more of a "hit" when the boost comes on, and the idle is nasty. Really sounds cool. Haven't had any problems with stalling or stumbling. Holds steady just lumpity as all hell.

When you say bad, do you mean they will decinegrate or that they forgot to tap the hole?

I'm guessing he means just forgot to tap that hole. I had a similar issue. Mine had threads they were just nasty. The bolt would start but about two threads in and it was locked up. I just ran a tap through and all was well.

Glad that didnt happen to me, it even came with a new thinner 12mm bolt to replace the stock fat 12mm bolt.

Sounds like some pretty poor GC on Comp Cams part.

I also had a bad thread on one of my 272s. Loved the power these cams produce. I love the 280s now. Nasty idle is awesome.
