Talking ordered blitz v-spec fmic.

i got it for $500 (its great having a sponsor). its for the evo 7, but im sure the mountings will be off a bit. nevertheless, we can make it fit . the piping consist of just the ones connecting it to stock piping. if modifications are needed we will do to make this sexy ***** work properly. what kind of hp gains can i expect from this? heres the link to the ic that will phat'n up Natalia: http://www.blitz-na.com/Image/INTER.jpg

tomorrow the profect e-01 goes on! were ganna set at 19 psi to redline.

i saw that thread... i think it was the pipes that didnt fit. this ic is close to the same size as stock, just flows alot more air. it should fit... we can make the piping fit, or just make new.

Actually I think that thread mentioned that there were several differences in the brackets, I/C Tubing, and some issue with clearance between the I/C and the bumper rebar.. Whatever it was, it prevented him from being able to complete the install..

Good luck, I'd like to hear about what sort of real gains you will end up making, and whatever supporting modifications you are using to take advantage of the intercoolers efficiency.

Have you ever seen the piping on these kits? Makes you wish you would have waited for GReddy, HKS, ARC, etc.

blitz has great piping. tig welded, polished, with a anti-blow off rim... plus light weight. but i only actually am getting the pipes just either side of the ic. the ic is basically the reason for getting the kit... its so sexy. like Natalia (my car).

VII fmic ic will NOT fit on the VIII - been there done that - you are wasting your $$$

The brakets are in the worng place - all three - and it wont clear the VIII bumper

The only fmic you can get right now is the one I have ny Pruven Performance - it was designed from sctrach for the us viii

I think if you'll read his first post you'll see that he plans on modifying it to make it fit, it's obviously not going to be a straight bolt-up item.

You might as well use a supra fmic or a wrx one - the evo vii and viii are very differnt

I should ahve clarified my statement a bit, sorry. Blitz does in fact have a nice lineup of parts, especially their exhausts...though their FMIC kit for the WRX looked like someone made the piping in their backyard when compared to a GReddy kit.

Good luck though on this one....unless you remove the bumper support and create a new one and get creative with the brackets, its gonna be a long install.

Yeah - that blitx kit was a joke ! (I know the joke was on me after I bought one and spent and entire day at the track poping i/c couplings off at 22 - 24 psi)

Within a few months the market will be flooded with aftermarket EVO VIII fmic's - - there is a real limit to how big you can get a fmic on the evo viii though unless you change the a/c fan - becuase the evo viii a/c fan is very very wide

indeed i am a bit weiry, but my mechanic is one of the best. he says he will get it on there, i think he most likely will. i figured its not going to fit exactly like it would on the 7, mainly because of the 2.5 mph bumper supports. so we will probably remove the front one just to make sure for clearence. is this what was causing the clearence issues on yours? what fmic kit was it that you tried to put on your evo? im not worried about the brackets, we will find a way to attach them to the frame. in your opinion, how much hp is there to gain from a aftermarket fmic? ive heard around 30 or so.

if all you have to make is some new brackets whats so hard about that? im getting tired of this lazyness of ppl who call themselves tuners. fixing little problems is what makes you a tuner

Its got nothing to do with being lazy...as Al suggested, you would be far better off measuring and having Spearco fab you up an IC, getting endtanks to suit your turbo/pipe layout, and fabbing the whole thing up on the car to fit. Sometimes modifying a part for another car to fit works great..other times, its just not worth the effort.
