Oh, so the cast end tanks are not welded on to the core?

Yes, the sheet metal end tanks have a few more welds than the cast ones, but they are still BOTH welded together. Personally, I trust AMS's welders ALOT more than I trust some 10 year old kid welding for pennies in a Chinese sweat shop.

Yea the are welded to the core, and who wouldn't trust AMS when they are making a 1000 hp on evo's, I am just stating pretty much that sheetmetal has a higher chance failure than cast. And I dont think they have kids welding, I think they machine weld the endtanks and possibly kids operating the machines, but either way it does look machine welded.

The AMS definitely seems like it is better constructed, however in reality it most likely will perform about the same on the dyno as their child-constructed chinese counter parts which cost 1/3 the price =).

i run one on my turbo blazer- and after multiple burnouts and a some WOT runs if you feel each side of my intercooler IT DEFINATLY WORKS, no data sheets or anythign like that but one side is hot as hell and the other is cool to the touch or just feels ambient/normal...

mine works great- just some no name supposed to be 600bhp capable.... dunno about that but it works great in florida

So this would be an AMS vs a Ebay ?

If I were to do a test what respect would I gain? What is the purpose?

THe purpose is so that everyone will shut up. Either the ams will perform better or the ebay ic. Same day, Same car, Same dyno.

I dont think the issue is wether or not it WORKS, I think Buschru says his has significant testing and quality control and fitment testing, while the eBay is a simple rip off, both SHOULD work, but I am almost certain that the Buschur unit would work better.

The older Xspower ic's had bad cores but the newer ones are actually bar and plate....i think its just the batch you get....also jdm motors and ssauctochrome and xspower sell the same ic. Fwiw when compared to the ams ic it looks identical....many people have made power from these but its about 2x the weight of the stock IC.

Most intercoolers are 2x the weight of the stock...they are bigger.....

I have a buschur fmic and I personaly would buy again over a ebay intercooler. Why support an out of country chinese business over companys like Buschur and AMS who are dedicated to the car we love. It dosent make sence, i d rather go to a local shop pay more for an item just to support the people who really care.

Think about it. If it wasnt for the DB's and AMS's we wouldnt be where we all are with this car.

bar and plate designs(xspower, AMS, buschur) usually weigh significantly more than tube and fin offerings(some greddy, HKS, stock).

Honestly it just comes down to if the person is willing to settle. Obviouslt the AMS and equal IC's will perform better( or atleast i hope for the price) than an ebay IC. I personally run the XSPower ic. Performance have no complaints dont get me wrong its a awesomne upgrade over stock and for the money i mean come on, it doesnt get much better. Fitment is another issue, brackets all wrong and took for ever to get it level out in the bumper so it wouldnt look retarded going down the road. With that said i cant bring myself to buy another one for 8 times the price now that this one is on my car.

This ic is good for me, i can deal with a little fabrication on my on, irritating none the less but i got it done, and for the money i mean come on could espect more.

Ive read most of this thread and honestly if it works, for the money, it just makes you wanna pick up one of these instead of some of the other higher priced FMIC. It appears safe and several people have larger turbo upgrades and these FMIC are doing their job.....
