So there are no XS Power intercoolers for sale anyway? Man that sucks, it seems to be the most popular...
XS Power

I'm very certain the one that JDMMotorz sells is the same unit as the XSPower core.

Are there any facts for ANY of the intercoolers on the market?

of course, from brandname sackriders
just do your own research or read the dsmtuners thread.

According to "evo tuners" the evo tuning market just opened up with new "innovative" products, yet most 'high end' aftermarket items are just simple machined pieces or universal general electric components with a bazillion dollars in markup.

FWIW, I trapped 116mph with the mods in my sig and the XS Power Evo specific fmic. I only got 3 runs that night and with each pass I was seeing improvement with more tuning. I haven't been back to the track since. Temps were in the mid 70's so I'm hoping for an improvement later this fall.

I do not see any of these XS Power fmic's on ebay right now either. They are very similiar or possibly exactly the same as this http://cgi.ebay.com/THS-Mitsubishi-E...QQcmdZViewItem or the JDMmotor fmic's for the Evo.

My stock fmic had 50k miles on it when I replaced it. Bugs, rocks, and other debris had taken their toll so it was in bad shape. I decided to pick up one of these XS Power fmic's since mine was in need of replacement as well as I wanted the new licp it came with. It wasn't mentioned in the ad I bought mine from but it shipped with a uicp also that I later cut up and used for an elbow to mount my meth nozzle. After swapping on the new fmic(this is well before I added the SMC kit so this was on 93oct), I noticed my car was much less knock prone. I could run a couple more degrees timing advance without any signs of knock. Where with the stock fmic I was seeing counts of knock with less timing advance. These tests were done under very similiar conditions btw. Same stretch of road, temps etc. Also this was the only change made to the car mod wise at the time. Unfornutely thats the only improvement I can show you. I've never dynoed the car or made any before and after 1/4 runs.

So like I said, take it FWIW. You may see different results if your stock fmic is in better shape than what mine was. I was happy with the results, especially for the price I paid.

You will see this pressure drop (shouldn't be more than 1-2 psi) on all large cores (AMS, Buschur, etc.) not just the ebay ones.
extactly even some larger cores dont always lose that much pressure....

Nisei's Competition Intercooler claims they use < .5 lbs of pressure it's all about design and how much pressure you lose accross a intercooler...

either ways as i remember reading on this forum a review on the ebay intercooler the guy said he lost over 2 lbs of pressure and it was the reason i was turned away from... he still said his buttdyno seemed like he gained nice power. and most guys havent had any big issues

and there is no doubt for the money is awesome... but for me that 2+ lbs of pressure lost is just TOO much

Compare the core and promise you they are not the same. The SSAuto core looks like those old diesel truck ic cores.

^^^^

This is a VERY good job of posting how an intercooler effected his car.

Good result from a change with no tuning. It clearly shows an increase in air density. That is what the IC is supposed to do and it does it. I am soooooo tempted to order one right now!

THAT IS A --- Turbo XS intercooler!!!! $600'ish*

NOT the ebay XS Engineering IC!!! $150'ish*

Now, if we could get someone to log the same kind of data on the stock vs. the ebay IC we could put this to rest.

*thx razorlab for pointing that out.

Turbo XS and XS power are two different companies with different intercoolers.
