Question Crower 272 Cams Help

So I finally decided to go with the affordable Crower 272/272 camshafts. I just needed some advice on what to do after/during the install. What other parts should I buy (ie. headstuds, cam gears...)? Can I tune with an SAFC2 for some gains and drivability (i know i cant control timing)? And last, is there anything I need to know when I get someone to install the cams (special instructions, degree)? Thanks.

its just my opinion but since your alreay going to be tearing your head apart that you should upgrade the head gasket and studs at the same time... since chance are your eventually going to go with other performance mods its a good step to get ahead of the curve. Cam degreeing depends on how mean you want your car to be and on the cam profile your using. rather then going with safc2 you should look into a dyno'd reflash or a mail in type reflash... they will be better for you car and you wont have the chance of a dumb friend playing with the settings when the drive your car... happen to my civic. but like i said its just my opinion

First off throw the afc as far as you can, and buy a tactrix cable, then download ecuflash afters install cams and tune with a free logger or buy evoscan

Installing cams does not require that you remove the head from the block. It's a simple procedure (comparatively speaking), and requires that you either remove and reinstall the timing belt, the valve cover, the cam caps, the stock cams, and then install the aftermarket cams and put it back together. You do not need to disturb the head studs or the head gasket.

Why would you take off the head if you don't have a problem with a head gasket, unless you're planning to run huge boost and/or RPM? If you are, you'd want to use higher grade head studs (ARP or those offered by AMS/Titan), forged pistons and rods, and upgraded rod bolts, for example.

And make sure you bleed the lifters it's not included in this guide but it should be done. While the valve cover is off it wouldn't be a bad idea to add the ARP studs since you know you'll be doing more mods in the future.
