I am doing a cam swap here shortly, and I would like some advice on cam gear settings. I spent countless hours on the forum reading about cams and setting everyone else is using, but my question is: with all the different cam centerlines out there, how do I know settings that work with one set of cams will work for me?

Now, I know what you're thinking: Dynotune. Unfortunately, I am living on a small island so a dynotune is out of the question until I get back to the mainland. I am looking to see if anyone is using the Bruce Crower (not to be confused with the Brian Crower) 272/272 combo with adjustable gears and if so, what settings you are using?

pm 4wheelslide, he is my tuners, he told me to go with gsc s1 for my 05 GG. I was gonna go with bc272, but he said I would need cam gears for that.

272's will be great on the stock turbo

 

oh yeah i run Stock turbo too.. 272s is good deal if u want to.. dont forget add spring n retainer on it

We ended up putting the cams in straight up along with new Crower springs and retainers. Stock turbo @ 22psi, 780cc injectors, TBE, 49% alcohol injection, intake and FMIC and we are all very happy with the way it pulls all the way to redline.

I'm just going to leave the gears as they are (0,0) till I get back to the US and can get on the dyno.

 

i thought the crower family bussiness was passed completely to brian. but, hurry up man, take it to the dyno.

It's hard to guesstimate power here. The enviornment plays a huge factor here. I'd try to explain it.. but it would just sound like excuses, lol! I thought being so close to sea level would be beneficial, but not so much.

I dunno whats up with the Crower family.. all I know is Crower 272 and bc 272 arent the same..
