Is this the "50 trim" that everyone's talking about?

Better said, which of these is the real "Pump Gas King"? They're all 50 trims, but which of them are the closest to, say, the AMS kit? I'm planning to buy just the turbo then buy or build my own manifold, but would the O2 housing be any issue? Do these have O2's that I can buy? Obviously, this won't be a prob with a 20g, but would it be a big problem if I just bought a turbo? Or does it come with it? Which parts should I buy and which should I build, which parts come with it?

Here are the links to the turbos:

i know what they are talking about when they say 50 trim

but what specifically does it mean?

how is it different than say a gt30r or gt35r ect..?

is it just a different sizing scheme?

It's inbetween the 30r and the 35r.

Don't hold me to it, but I think people say it makes alittle over 400whp on pump.

Yes there is a 50 trim in each of those links, though the "PTE" 50 Trims are not Garrett, and i personally have no idea how they work or if they are BB, and the ATP turbo may have their special hotside that bolts up to the stock manifold, which probably wouldn't be cool. The first SBR link has what your looking for i believe.

It is called a 50 trim Because it has a 50 mm cold side; im sure among other things.

Any Dual Ball Bearing Garrett 50 trim (50mm cold side) is the same as all the kits out there. The choice of .48 , .63 or .82 a/r is your own, i bet it's random which campanies use which.

Again, save yourself the money and buy a kit; a manifold alone is going to cost you a grand.

It is a T3/TO4E

stage III turbine wheel
.63 a/r turbine housing
50-trim compressor wheel

You can get this with an optional ball bearing center section.

Uh... PTE uses Garrett parts. The 50 in "50 trim" is just the trim of the compressor wheel. Trim is just a ratio of the inducer/exducer of a wheel. The inducer on the compressor side is 54mm. The turbo flows less than a 30R compressor but it's close. Some people have it rated from 46-49 lb/min. A 30R's compressor wheel flows 52 lb/min. A 35R compressor flows 65 lb/min.

I would stay as far away from ATP as possible. AMS is top choice even thoughthey charge $1000 to much. Just get teh Buschur kit, $3000 grand, same whp and a stock looking manifold, very sleeper.

If you don't know what you're talking about 100%, then don't say anything. That's one of the main reasons there so much bad info floating around EVOm, everyone here "knows a little bit".

+1. You mentioned the AMS 50 trim; get it directly from them with no worries.

I don't foresee 500whp on pump gas. Maybe 500hp crank. I think it's more like 375-400whp with near stock spool-up. That's nothing shabby! If you add in meth or higher octane gas you could work towards 400+whp I believe.

500whp comes from something bigger like a 35r from what I've read.

It's a very pump gas friendly wheel. Very good efficiency at 23lbs and can achieve 500whp in a proper combination. It's always out powered the larger 60 wheel on pump gas and the old FP Greens are legendary in the DSM world.

I would put my money on a pump gas 50 trim over a pump gas 35R any day of the week running the same boost.
