ok well this is a pretty simple question and all you guys that have owned evos for longer than a few months im sure would know the answer. if you dont know, i just got an 06 evo MR w/ 9k miles on it about 1 and a half weeks ago. now im comming from a 99 mustang GT that was highly modded. i drove that mustang so hard it was almost disgusting and the thing has 80k miles and never had a problem, EVER. (other than a tiny radiator leak which was easily replaced for under 200 bucks) since i got the evo i havent really driven it hard at all, maybe given it some gas to 5 or 6k RPM and switched slowly , havent done much at all. now ........... my question is this. exactly how hard can i be driving this car without worrying about breaking things IE tranny, diffs, axles, T/C. basically anything that can break. ive been waiting to drive it real hard till i understand exactly what it can and cant handle. i want to understand exactly how hard it can be driven so that i can drive it that hard , and not harder because i want to ensure the life of the car and all its parts and i want to take as much care of the car as i possibly can. let me know what you guys think interms of how hard u can drive, shift , etc etc. im really curious and dont want to experiment on my new car lol , especially because i dont know what the guy before me did for 9k miles ( although everything looks brand new and the tires are original and dont look very worn at all so i dont think it was driven too hard)
anyways get back to me guys id appreciate any and all first/second/third hand stories or opinions on what u think
thanks again

I would run a compression test first. See where the numbers fall.
I really beat up on my Evo. I got it in Dec 2004 and in April 2006 at 25k blew the motor. Of course my mods played a large factor in it. I took it to the drag strip a few times. Did some auto-xing. Also had it out on fire roads here in the desert when we went shooting and what not. Daily drove the car.
I never had a clutch problem even though I smoked it more than 15 times. Some people report it crapping out after that. But it was few and far between. You cant go around launching these cars. You cant turn up the boost without getting the proper tune. In fact most parts require a retune to keep the car running safely and correctly.
Trannies and t-cases are not bullet proof. Hard driving does take its toll. Axles seem to handle mods well. Engine is finicky. It needs to be tuned by a pro or someone who has been in the game for a while to understand the needs of a 4G63.
When I was stock I had no problems. As soon as I added the AEM EMS....the engine went a month later. I think it was the fuel pump (which I consider a weak point)
Its all in how you drive it. Smooth precise shifting makes the clutch and gearbox last.
Upgrading requires the right combo of parts to be reliable. Just do your research.

im using this mobil 1 15k extended performance synth oil w/ the matching filter, but im changing the oil every 3k miles lol , is that over kill ? AND is there a better oil/filter combo to use for the engine or is that a pretty solid choice?
