Metal scraping noise?

ok my 03 evo has been making a whining noise for a few months now and for the past month it started getting worst, it now sounds like metal scraping and it is very loud "i can here it with my radio on full blast" i thought it was my transfer case at first but i took it to my friends shop and he put it up on the lift and said that the noise was comming from my carrier bearing. and the inide rubber peice is cracked and most of the grease came out....has anyone else heard of this problem? how much is it to fix this? and do you think i could get that fixed under warranty? thanks guys....

heres a pic of the bearing, this isnt mine...this is just a pic i found while searching.....mine has grease comming out of it...https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...iveshaft+whine

I would still say that your T-case i shot and it also happens that your carrier bearing is fried

Listen for it to howl and then eventually after you drive it so much that it starts making a metal grinding noise.....lol

Or you could just drain the fluid in the T-case and watch all the metal shaving come out. sorry about your t-case. Anyone else feel free to chime in on this also

I have an 03 silver evo and im wondering if we have the same problem mine sounds like the bearings on a skate board wheel ,when i replaced the clutch it went away for a couple weeks but has come back ,the funny thing is evos dont use pilot bearings so any noise transmitting from the release bearing becomes amplified by the flywheel and if its up graded its two fold ,the thing that had me worried was that i had a high hp civic si turbo,ed and my tranny made a simular noise and it was the main input shaft bearring when it failed it crashed the whole tranny,i asked a good friend of mine at mitsu he said in most cases it was the release bearing ,and in only one case the transfer case rotator bearing at the center dif a peice that the later evos with acd got rid of the american cheese burger that mitsu put in to try and cut produ costs also a fluid change would help out on some cases try the redLine oil tranny (2 mtl 1mt90 ) mixes to make( 75 /85)center and rear 1 each 75 /90 ns
