Help Quick, GREY OIL! Blown head gasket???
This problem is on a friends car I am working on
When I checked the oil, it was GREY. I mean very grey. Took out the valve cover and shows the same grey oil. Its kinda creamy, but not very drippy and not bubbly.
A little history on the car.
The car has the AEM EMS with an aftermarket aluminum koyo radiator and 85k on the motor. For the last couple of months, it has been running on race gas and about 25psi. It has stock head studs!!!
Now, the car does over heating problems. The only way for it not to over heat on a hot day is to turn on the heater on the first position. My friend experienced the over heating issue immediately after the install of the EMS and the radiator, which was done over a year ago. He was boosting 22psi before he had the EMS.
Could this be a blown head gasket? Are there ways I can check for it?

So, he has been driving it for a year with it constantly overheating and is just now looking into it? Is he retarded?
Check the coolant to see if it has oil in it. If it does there is definitely a leak somewhere between the oil system and the cooling system, most likely the head gasket as you are thinking. Also check the levels. If the oil is way higher than it should be or the coolant way lower it ipoints to a head gasket as well.
If there is no oil in the cooling system, is there any chance all the race gas and high boost has diluted the oil and turned a funky color?
If you figure out the race gas is what is changing the color of the oil did you bleed the air out of the cooling system when filling it? Is the radiator large enough to provide adequate cooling? Is the thermostat opening? Is there a fan behind the radiator? Is it working?

forgot to say that the overheating only happens during idle
drained all the coolant and its free of oil.
good point on the race gas, any other opinions on this?

Any gas can dillute oil.
High boost equals more blow by which means more fuel vapor in oil. Different types of fuel can do weird things to oil. In a Top Fuel car all the Nitro they run turns their oil into a thick green syrup.
It all depends on how long it's been since he changed the oil and the engines condition. I was making an assumption that since it is high mileage, runs mostly or only on race gas, high boost, and has been overheating for a year that it isn't tip top.
