hey,
im putting hks 280/280 cams and adjustable cam gears in my 04 evo 8 and was wondering if its necessary to replace the valve springs and valves with aftermarket? will it mess up the car if i dont do that?

HKS cams are totally fine with the stock valvetrain. If you want to upgrade your valvetrain, I would consider some higher lift cams (such as revolver), you will see a lot more gains with higher lift numbers if you want to spend the $$ on the valvetrain. As for 280's in my opinion they are a bit too aggressive with use on anything smaller than a GT3X series turbo. Have you looked at the Helix 272's and gears? They are lighter and you'll get much better idle than the HKS 280's. We also have an HKS 272 special going on, give me a PM.
