Well i have some sort of hope if they fixed your ride under warranty and you had the ACT clutch in there.

I had the same problem with it wanting to grind into fourth, unless I shifted fairly slow, and this was on the OEM clutch. I switched to the ACT street kit and the problem seemed to carry over. I tried adjusting the engagement at the pedal and bleeding the line with no luck so I have just decided to take it easy into fourth. Sucks but it will save me a major headache in the long run.

HAHAHA this is a classic case of stupidity. it grinds... so instead of fixing clutch pedal play and possibly seeing if anything else is wrong. you change the fluid and cross your fingers. you obviously launch the car on a regular basis because you drag race and call that track time.

there's nothing to be said to you. there's so many people running acts with great reliable success it's the clutch i've heard the least complaints about mainly cuz it's the most simple design you can possible have and it's been around since the 1g dsm.

next time... get the right clutch for your douchebaggery. get the right person to install it. don't grind and keep goin' with it. stop living one street race to the next.

ya know....I'm pretty happy with my ACT clutch...it's taken a whole autox season worth of abuse and is great...I'm actually quite happy with how it shifts. If you think your version of autox isn't hard on a clutch, well my runs all start with 6k rpm launches on 285 r-compounds.....

How did you do the clutch install....i mean was the car on a lift and used a tranny jack to remove the tranny or did you do it in your garage with jack stands?

I had the dreaded 5th gear grind on my 04 BEFORE installing the ACT. Next time I think I will go with the twin disk.

it's driver error or install error, plain and simple. High rpm lockout is almost always a warped flywheel or improper adjustment. It's not the clutch's fault. You either overheated the flywheel with all your "drag" launches and warped it, or you failed to put a new flywheel in when you changed the clutch or you didn't properly adjust it afterwards.

ACT makes a good product, but it's not going to make up for the idiot behind the wheel.

So my stock clutch went out about 4 months after i bought my evo. (4 months of solid track time) It started slipping so i decided to go with the ACT street clutch. Me and my buddy did the install (it took all day) and the clutch seemed fine at first. About 2 months past and i noticed that from time to time when i would go into 5th gear fast it would make a slight grinding noise. If i shifted really slow it wouldnt do it. After a few weeks of hearing this i decided to change the fluid to BG snycro shift II. The first week was wonderful no grinding at all. Then I had this SRT-4 that wanted to run me on the highway and when we raced it grinded horribley going into 4th gear and 5th gear. About a week later i took it to the track to see what i was running now on my race gas map. First pass i couldnt even get the damn thing to go into 4th at all. It was like it was locked out. Second pass it went into 4th but grinded real bad. After those two passed i was done. I was really pissed that my transmission was acting up. Then to top the night off i got in car to leave the track and go to put in into reverse and gggggrrrrrrrr. I wont even go into reverse. I release the clutch and put the clutch back in and put in into gear first then try for reverse again. This time is doesnt grind but just wont go into reverse at all. Sometimes if you lift up on the clutch pedal when trying to go into reverse in my car it will slip right into reverse. Not this time i tried that and in started grinding. So now i have the delima what the hell is wrong. I am pretty convinced that it is my syncros and the ACT clutch is what messed them up. Im only hoping that the dealership will still cover my car under warranty. The car only has 17000 miles on it so its still under the waranty but i dont know if they will cover it because of all of my mods.

I don't think it's the clutch or the install, just bad timing. It's the tranny. Mine sucks with the stock clutch. Gonna get a good rebuild eventually with an exedy twin.

Well...I have had my ACT for nearly 30K miles. I have not experienced anything as severe as you did, but I do notice problems occasionally getting into 4th on fast high rpm shifting, and more commonly 5th on fast high rpm shifting.

Before my ACT, I had an Exedy Twin Disk, and I must say that as soon as I drove my car with the ACT, I could tell the difference. The Exedy seemed to hold better, and engage smoother than the ACT. 30K miles with the ACT, and Im looking forward to going back to the Exedy Twin Disk when it is time for another replacement.

BTW, I had put 30K miles on the Exedy as well, with alot more hard driving and launches.
