What clutch to buy???

My friend has the ACT street disc, but it blocks him out of gears at high rpm's...I don't want that. What clutch will hold about 400whp and is very streetable with no problems. Sorry if this is a newb question but I just got my evo about 2 weeks ago and I need a clutch. Should I go Exedy Single plate organic, Spec Stage 2, CM????

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Anthony

I have the ACT HDSS no lockout issues at all. Your friend needs to adjust his pedal engagement

haha this is the second thread i have read/posted in today about somebody saying that the ACT street locks you out of gears.....i have had mine installed for about 1000 miles and i know others who have had them for well over 20k miles with no problem...the pedal feel on the act streets is none the different from a stock....people that say its a hard push need to hit the gym. the ACT's are very good clutches and a street disc will hold 400hp.

We put a SS clutch line, took out the restrictor pill, and tried to adjust the pedal from inside the car....but all that seems to do is adjust where in the pedal throw the clutch grabs.

Anyone else???

havent had good experince but heard horror stories, new clutches stall like crazy, u have to keep the car at a certain rev limit at all times, each stop light is a mission not to stall the car

I have the ACT and i absolutely love it. Gives you that stiff "heavy clutch feeling" that everyone loves, but not that big of a pain in the a** while driving around the city.

Exactly you need to adjust it so it grabs higher more. The lower off the floor it grabs the more likely it will lock you out of a gear at higher rpm shifts

Your friend needs to adjust it more. I have 40k+ and dozens of drag runs on it and open track days.

TECH TIP: If an aftermarket clutch is installed and there is trouble getting into gears or it won't go into gear at all, the clutch is likely not being fully disengaged when the pedal is in. To overcome this, adjust the pedal higher.

I don't want a Twin Disc. I would like to keep it to an organid street disk guys. I would like buy an ACT HDSS....but I don't know how to cure the "lock out" issue with it.

Bump for more suggestions and opinions please...

I tried going both ways...the clutch grabbed high at first but that didn't help...then I tried to adjust the other way, and nothing, same thing.

I want the HDSS but I need to figure this out first.

Who installed it? Do you have a SS Clutch line? Did you take the restrictor pill out?
