The intake will give just a little bit of power. But in that case you need to get tuned for it. ALso i think al did a write up in his forum where the hks doesnt filter very well. You might look into the buschur filter for decent money or if you want to spend more go with the injen intake with uicp. But like i said you need to get tuned if you plan on running the intake. Lots of people swear by the stock one but with a tune you shouldnt be dissapointed.

Its not bad for youre car if you get tuned for it. I as well as most of the guys who own evo run this intake. I personally know 3 guy who got tuned recently who has the HKS RS intake in there car. The only pain the a** part is you have to change your filter every 5000 miles. Other then that I love it. Good luck with your choice

i dont change my filter that much at all... you can wash it.....i pull it out every time i do an oil change, rinse it with some dish soap and water and let it dry, it works just fine

You do feel the quicker throttle response. Also it clears the restriction of the stock airbox. the stock airbox is good up to about 400 whp if i am not mistaking. There is alot of guys here that will say just throw in a k&N drop in filter and call it a day. It depends on your goals.

On a stock IX turbo you will be probably maxed out around 410-420 whp. Depending if you plan on upgrading your turbo you may have to go with whoever the kits from intake. Unless you go with a HKS 2835 or HKS 3037. The only problems with the HKS exhaust manifold are prone to cracking. that is the only reason i am staying away from one of there kits. I plan on making 430+whp here is my list of mods of how i plan getting there.

HKS RS intake
HKS DLI 2
HKS EVC 5
HKS FMIC
Nisei Intercooler pipes
Espelir Downpipe
Ultimate Racing Testpipe
HKS Hi power exhaust
APR head studs
20-g-9-5 or 6 blade turbo
SMC Meth kit

depending how the cosworth cams work out i would add them to my list.

HKS intake is not bad as long as you're upgrading to a standalone, cams and the other exhaust upgrades. Therefore getting rid of the stock box is necessary to maximize the benefits of these upgrades thus the need for an aftermarket intake, ie hks megaflow, etc.

The thing with a GT 35r is unless you plan on upgrading internals your not going to be able to maximize it to its fullest potential. You may want to consider a 50 trim kit. Its the perfect turbo for a stock bottom end in my and most opinions. on pump with supporting mods you can expect 420-440whp. On meth 450-470whp.
I have done my homework on most of these turbos. For what your looking for i'd look into the 50 trim and run meth along with other supporting mods. Good luck with which ever you choose

It's not bad for the car unless you don't get tuned, but it also isn't worth the money for the gains. The stock airbox is not a restriction for you, so it's just a waste of money. Also, when you get a turbo kit, it will have its own intake, so its a double waste of money. However, you wasted money on those HKS exhaust parts that cost more but don't make any extra power, so the HKS RS intake may be perfect for you.

If you care about making power and not wasting money unnecessarily, then focus on getting the right mods like an MBC (Forge UNOS), an LICP (Buschur), and a flash. I don't know why you have a fuel pump but no MBC or tune. That is senseless.

koolguy, hate to break it to you, but hks is overpriced - your just paying for the name. But hey, its your cash, feel free to waste it.

And MBC first, then a flash. The UNOS is great and so is Hallman.

And please for the love of puppies do not put on the HKS SSQV VTA.

Standalone for an intake? Your joking right - a flash will cover all that for way less $.
