SMC Alky problem ....
SMC Alky problem ....
Notice a problem with my alky kit yesterday. The kit is not spraying anymore. Pressed the test button but nothing happens. The arm green led indicator is on so I believe the controller have power. Anyone have a similar issue? Anyone have STeve's information?
Thanks.
Thanks.

1) Turn off the engine and go to a quiet place (inside your garage), listen for the pump engaging. I can hear mine everytime I engage the test button.
2) You might have a faulty test button however the system is probably working fine
3) Remember, the SMC kit activates manually(test button) and also is trigger by the boost sensor. This might be your case, your test buttom is not engaging but the system is working/spraying while boosting
4) If you have the V2 version controller then go to the right of the controller and switch the tiny white plastic togle switches to any of the 4 combinations. You might actually just have one switch activation out of 4 bad, try the other 3 positions. These tiny white switches are directly related to the pump pressure. You might have one of the switches configuration not sending the proper signal
5) You might have a blown amber light (spray) so that when you press the button you don't see the light but the system is actually spraying
6) Is the system activating during boost though?
After you review my questions you should be able to narrow much more. Call me if you need. I just PM you.

I just got into installing the new pump that Steve sent me and notice something abnormal after installing it. When I press the test button the pressure slowly rises to 20 to 40 to 60 and to 80. Before the pressure would rise to 100 as soon as the test button is press. Any idea as to why the pressure is slowing rising?
I will use wrxtoevo's method too troubleshoot this system. Problem is it's just cold here in the midwest.
Thanks.

I just got a newly designed pump from Steve he said the rubber compounds are more resistant to corrosion from the alky or meth. its bigger then the other pump and feels like a real sturdy piece. Give Steve a call im sure he'll help you out, he has been a real pleasure to deal with for me...
Here's a tip for you . . .
All you need do is remove the pump out from under the car. When you go to do this, you will find that it isn't put together in such a manner that it is convenient to remove just the pump. To address this, I suggest having plug-in connectors and small hose clamps on hand, and prepare these things such that IF you need to remove the pump again at some point, it will be quick and easy.
I just wanted to report back... Steve rocks! It took less than a week to ship/fix/ship back my SMC kit from SMC. I also had my controller reflashed as it was an earlier version.
