Stock plugs are iridium so u shouldnt have to change them very often. In Toyotas they say every 90k. I took mine out at around 22K and put in BPR7es. I would say I went a lil premature even tho the plugs look highly carboned but never had a hiccup from them. So probably like 30k. The Copper core BPRs I would change every 15k or so.

get oem plugs if you can afford them, which shouldnt be an issue driving a $36000 car. but you should wait untill 40k miles to change them, anyway your plugs are fine untill then.

if your car is running fine all around,(ideling, pulling smooth to redline, etc.) then leave it cause they are fine unless you pulled one and it looked like they needed replacing. If it were me i would replace them with the stockers. I know they cost a piece of change but i,ve used ngk 7,s and 8,s in my modded 03 8 and i fine the car ran just as good or better with the stock plugs and lasted a lot longer. I think i,m wrong but i dont know if ngk has a plug for the IX yet. Something about the lenght of them, i think. If you do go with the stock plugs dont gap them because they are pre gapped and if you dont know what your doing you will damage the fragile stock plug.(Skinny electrode)

Thanks guyz!

This is very good info here. I was gonna buy some new OEM spark plugs for my car. But after reading this, I may wanna stick with them for a while. Mine just turned 9000 miles today, but I began doing a few trackdays recently and was thinking about putting new plugs before the next trackday in 2 weeks. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

could sparkplugs have anything to do with rpms staying the same for and car not pulling when getting on gas and then rpms go and car pulls. Car is stock. Only happens in 3 and fourth sometimes around 4,000 rpm. Started when weather got colder and when it got warmer during the day it didnt do this. But does if it is cold during day. Got almost 26,000 miles. Im asking cause danny23 mentioned something about car pulling smooth to redline. Thanks.

The Evo 9 uses a different plug than the Evo 8. the problem with this is their is no
"Cheap" Alternative to the stock plug and nothing that is a heat range colder period. the only thing you can get ur hands on that are colder are NGK racing plugs. About $26 EACH!!!! run the stock plugs for awhile then cross referance the OEM plug to the NGK Iridium and get ready to spend about $15 a plug

oh yeah and pray we get copper plugs some time soon.
