When I say "chug out" don't most MBC only let you boost up 5 or so psi? I know my turbxs (total **** MBC) only lets me go about 3psi (about 12turns) and the cap falls off...What MBC out there lets me turn up the boost 9-10psi so I can achieve that stock boost? I was thinking of just going with a Profec-B anyway...

Sorry for the questions, i am not used to a "stock" boosted car but not boost in general so things are a bit different.

Every mbc I have had worked fine and could turn the boost as high as the I pleased( with in reason on course) Hallman, forge they will work fine. I have the profec and love it.

This thread has me worried. First I have heard of needing an MBC with a TBE. I had a TBE without MBC on my VIII and same set up on my current IX. I have not been aware of any overboost issues.
Both cars were dynoflashed. Should that take care of the boost or do I still need an MBC?

I hope you have a boost gauge to monitor the boost and I hope you have purchased a MBC to control the boost.

Without those two things I would not recommend a TBE.

Lastly, I would suggest that you search before you ask a question that has been discussed over 1,000,000 times.

Oh yes put your flame suit on after this.

EDIT: I suggest that you search before you make another post as this was your first one. I also suggest that you read the site rules as they speak directly to this type of posting.

The flash controls the boost a bit, but you should still have a boost gauge to verify. IXs do not behave the same as VIIIs, so you can't just do the same exact thing that you did on your VIII and expect the same results.

Sav, man, all MBCs are going to let you turn up the boost more than 5psi. I don't know where you got that idea that they wouldn't. It wouldn't make any sense to purchase and install an MBC that didn't even get back to stock boost - we use MBCs to raise the boost ABOVE stock. There are some that have soft springs that will only give about 8psi over base, but those same ones come with stiffer springs for large boost increases.

Well my turbo XS (old one and i wont be using it) only let me boost up from wastegate spring around 5 psi before the damn cap came off so i guess i'm just used to that...(this was in my 2000 Si)

Might as well ask since we are on this topic kind of....I have an Evo IX and i have a Hallman Pro RX coming in, how much boost (i know 9 and 8 are diff) can a 9 take stock with just MBC? Keep in mind i have california gas.

your not gonna blow your motor on 87 oct. the ecu will retard timing and your car will run like *** but they dont make cars that will blow up if you dont run the highest octane. what happens if you get stuck in BFNW and you cant get anything besides 87?
car companies think about this.
sorry for the off topic kinda sorta.
