you can hear like an ugly rattling noise. can it be the tob..? things is that its new. it just sat on the tranny/on the floor for like 6 months when the car was down.

Does it go away when you push the clutch in? If it does, then its definitely the TOB.

I think its partially TOB. i risked it on saturday, and headed from LA to T.J. Once i got to the rest stop at san diego, i noticed my car feeling weird. "the heck", i said, and on we went....frist gear was jumping, i lost reverse, 5th gear wouldnt go in all the way. I exited the first exit, and pulled over at a del taco, near camp peddleton. Went to a chevron, bought some gear oil, and added it, thinking that cant be it. i added the oil, started the car, first gear grabbed like butter, no reverse. SO i said, "the heck with it" again, and headed back home. once i got home, i got reverse back, after a little stuggle. Now, is it possible that i grinded some gears down? its starting to make the same noises. i guess what i should do is throw the oem clutch in, and send it to the dealer to get it checked out. i have 38000 miles on the car, bought it with 30000.

Either a tob which i highly doubt...or its most likely an internal tranny issue...My 89 prelude si made the exact same noise..and later i found out after a close inspection that indeed it was an internal bearing inside the tranny...! Hopefully thats not the case here but thats what it does sound like to me....Good Luck!

 

yeah, well i think, im just going to go ahead, and remove the tranny and inspect it. if anything i might get a new used one, and replace clutch and all seals/rings. I think i need a new axle too. This car is making me waste money that i dont have!
