running IX stock cat

Just installed a TBE w/ 3"DP+stock Ix cat+Invidia N1 catback. I am pleasantly surprised how it flows very well. I suppose any setup would be a stepup from stock exhaust but the stock cat performs well.

Visually, the cat measured 2.5" inlet/outlet and mated up the 3" aftermarket flanges nicely.

Anyone w/ IX running similar setup and have dynoed it??? I'm thinking I'll keep this setup...

There's another 10 hp to be had with a good HFC. There are several companies selling HFCs with 3" inlet/outlet. I'm installing a Random Tech metal substrate in a few days.

I do have random 3" used lying around but taking the o2 sensor out of the stock cat is PITA!

What exhaust setup are you running and have you dynoed yet?

Chu, what makes you think it works well? It clogs the system and robs you of power greatly. There's nothing special about it - you're 10-15whp below what you'd be with a full exhaust, and no, an HFC will not gain 10whp. Also, just adding a DP and cat-back to a IX does almost nothing. You have to add an MBC and/or tune to make any power. For now, it's not doing anything except making noise.

wow, Clayton is everywhere!

thanks for the tip, just my butt dyno says so.

I hate to go catless because of the smell. But, I agree HFC and stock cat feels similar.

Running stock exhaust and a mail-in flash. I'll be adding a Random Tech 2.5" in/out HFC. I'm curious to find out what changes happen with just the addition of an HFC at this point.

Adding just an HFC will do next to nothing. If you keep the stock exhaust and add just a test pipe, you will make good gains.

Chu, the butt dyno is very bad - do not rely on it. Also, I've never had any issue with the smell of a test pipe in 8 years. Maybe my olfactory senses are damaged. I occasionally smell it when I come to a stop with the windows down, but that's certainly no reason to get an HFC. There are many other reasons not to get a test pipe, but worrying about smelling fumes isn't one of them, haha.
