I need a clutch that can slip

My sister lives in Colorado on the top of a mountain. I don't know why people want to live in places like this. Yeah, it is beautiful there but the trail up there is a white knuckle event.

I start off in third but soon need second gear. Finally up at the top where they live I have my Evo in first gear and it barely can pull some of the grades. Now comes their driveway which is even steeper. Once up there I have to turn my car around for the decent. To develop enough power to do this I have to rev a lot and slip the clutch. It is obvious that this car needs even lower first and reverse gears for this kind of work. But, you go to the mountains with the car you have, not the car you wish you had.

So, every time I turn the car around on their steep driveway I smoke the clutch. What makes things even more interesting is the Evolution's large turning circle and the sheer drop off at the edge of their property. Pretty soon I figure it will be clutch time for me. Would these double plate clutches that so many people recommend be able to live in this situation? I need a clutch that can be slipped a lot and live. Any suggestions.

Agreed, but her husband will never move. He is a
mountain man. And my sister is disabled so either
I go up there or I don't see her. Sigh!

Hmm. a carbon clutch, that should stand the heat. But don't they get grabby when hot?

Do you still have the restrictor pill in? That might be a cheap solution...

I do. In this mountain trail environment I'm not needing a clutch that engages more quickly or holds better. What I need is to be able to move the car slowly with the engine in the rpm range that produces power. That requires slipping the clutch for the driveway maneuvers I describe above. I'm talking starting, stopping and backing in a limited amount of space on a very steep grade.

adjust your clutch higher when you go out there..... it's easy (takes like 5 minutes) and you can mark the rod at your adjustments so it doesn't engage as harsh when you drive up there and then tighten it up when you leave and want to drive normal..... might be an easy and free solution....
