Alot of the evo guys are all about dyno comparisons but while a dyno may show spool differences, it can't measure certain things like tip in response and response between shifts (which is where a bb turbo shines IMO). Not to mention ive seen plenty of the journal bearing turbo's crap out rather early....you get what you pay for
It is kind of hard to compare spool differences considering there are a lot of variables(manifold design, compression ratio, piping diameter, .ar, transmission gearing, turbo wheel design, material, etc. Everyone says the ball bearing spools faster than journal bearing but I have never seen it tested on the dyno where one turbo was dynod and then switched to another turbo on same car with same turbo setup. But I would love to see a pic of you kit as your welding is beautiful.

I have the AMS 50 trim and love it. I've run 12.009 on pump gas and so far my best race gas e.t. is 11.75 at 120 and 27 psi. I know I can do better, but I need to strengthen some parts before I get on it too much harder.

the 50trim is a blast.
great on the street and great spool and power across the band.
I ran 12.1@118.95 on junk allseasons with 30k miles on them spinning all the way through first lol.

395awhp on 93oct safe tune for roadracing... cant wait to get it on the track next year.

About 400rpm in situations where everything remains constant, the only variable being the switch from a Non BB turbo to the BB equivilent.

As i said earlier though, inital spool isn't what would sell me on a BB vs. a non BB in the first place anyways

I think it's pointless to argue, everyone has their own perception of the best turbo . . . whether for street on pump, pump-meth, autocross, drag . . . ect
yes the 50 trim is a very good pump gas turbo,
yes the 35r overpowers most other turbo's peak #s
yes the bb50 trim spools slightly quicker

my own .02, the new turbo buschur is trying to produce with a journal bearing 50trim kit for under 2k is flowing 58lb where most regular bb 50trim kits are flowing 49-50. The 35r from what I understand flows 65. Given it's approx right in between you would figure on a pump-meth 2.0 it's going to produce close to gt35r #s with better spool and slightly slower spool than a bb 50trim.

It's a median turbo is what it comes down to. If you don't like it don't rag on it. I'm sure most of us know which turbos would be good for drag and which would have too much lag for a road course.

imo a 2.3 with a 20G-LT would seem to be a good road course car . . . but again that's just my oppinion . .. until there are test with cold hard documentation; no one will know and there may never be test. why argue . . . just go do what you want or you think is best and post your results.

have a good one

ps, some of my information may not be 100% as well as I was just rambling on due to failing a test today right after I got a 90 on the one right befor it . . . either way I'm not to happy and was just trying to get my mind off that.
