Anyone here running...

a 20g with nitrous? I found a thread where Al had tuned a guy with the stock turbo and a 50 shot/methanol injection. I am just looking into possibilities for a spring build. I will possibly be setting up a 20glt with a 50 shot of the juice. A homebuilt progressive controller/window switch (engineering self study project) will be used as well as a safety cut off switch for when the two step is used. Just looking for ideas. Also any information pertaining to the use of the stock IX turbo with nitrous would be relevant as well.

i've been considering the same thing as well. i'm an nitrous express dealer and i've got a single nozzle kit just sitting in my closet. i'm not going to install it till i get some i/c pipes.

i do really think there are many different ways to reach a certain horsepower goal and using a properly tuned nitrous system is one way to do it.

a 75 punch on the stock turbo with supporting mods is gonna rip on the street. i can only imagine spraying a 20g or a fpgreen for that matter.

i say go for it......you've got my vote!

What ideas do you have for it not to engage off the 2step?

I have actually thought of a few ways to cut the nitrous when the two step is used. It could easily be done mechanically using switches, one connected to the clutch somewhere and one connected in the shifter in the first gear area. Integrate both into the progressive controller. That would be the easier way to do it. I am also considering setting up a cutoff RPM range in the progressive controller to cut off the nitrous in the range of the RPMs used by the two step +/- 200 RPMs with a tie in to the purge for first gear so that when ramping up to the RPM max with the two step it purges the system and cuts off at the range. Obviously some sort of gear indication circuitry would have to be used so that you don't lose 400 RPMs of nitrous when you are actually headed down the track. I am currently trying to figure that issue out. Possibly a nested timer or some such.

Too much going on there. Needs to be simpler.

I have to build the controller myself for school. The two step deactivation feature is just a nicety so that I can actually use it and it doesn't appear that the maximizer has a way to integrate fuel cut as it is... That would be a very specific thing to the evo. I think that the route to go considering the complexity of using external switches would be to use an electrical indication of boost. Possibly the same wire as the one the Zeitronix uses to give an LCD boost indication. The nitrous would be switched on at XXpsi and switched off at XXXX RPM. It could be run in first gear only using a timer circuit or software internal to the progressive and disconnected after say 1 or 2 seconds so that you switch to regular window switch control for the rest of the gears.

could you just use a lockout and not spray 1st gear, because your car will be in 1st if your on the 2step.
