Power FC

Hi Claudius,

It's me, Hesperus from the MLR. I've finally come over to check out this board! This is my first post... looks like a pretty active board too!

Are you happy with the Power FC? I hope to finally get mine installed later this month, and can't wait!

Question: did you just plug it in straight away and try driving it a bit without tuning? Of course I intend to get it dyno-tuned, but was wondering if it just plugged-right in and worked fine out of the box?

Cheers!

Will the Power-FC replace the AFC you have right now, or is it to be run in addition?

How "staight" is the replacement? If that's so, could they not map it for your standard Engine first, and then I can sponge the map? Otherwise it could be possible to maybe do it in the summer, cause I'll try and come down again. Then you need to organise some biatches though...:headbng2:

"How straight is the replacement"

The Power FC comes with a baseline program for the car (that's why the FC's are sold for specific cars), unlike MoTec's, which come "blank".

In theory, you should be able to simply swap the Power FC for the stock ECU, and the car ought to function normally. I haven't actually tried this myself however-- my Power FC has been sitting in its carton for some time now, while I wait for the dyno to be fixed.

Having said all that, the Power FC is likely to be tuned for 100 RON fuel, as that's what they have in Japan. So unless your fuel comes close to this, you may run a greater risk of detonation unless you get the Power FC tuned straight away.

Cheers!
