i wrapped my aftermarket dp before i put it on. It is impossible once you get it on so i definitely would do it first. I think that's what you were asking.

yeah, definatly do it before i put it back on. I was wondering more about the 02 housing. if its worth wrapping. If it is. I will buy enough for the 02 housing and DP and do it all at once. Thank dude

Or you could PM me and I could ceramic coat both of these parts for you. I do a lot of work for other members and vendors on the forum.

I know this may recieve some heartburn but other than noise control, wrapping or insulating DP can rob a turbo 2-4psi. The pressure drop (hot - cold) should occur accross the turbine which increases gas velocity. This also negates the minimal scavenging benifits with insulted ducting.

I didn't belive this until I found out the hard way after spending $50 on ceramic tape. When My DP was fully insulted my boost dropped 2 psi peak and tapered rather severly, I thought it was something else until I removed the wrap.

dang no kidding. so does ceramic coating have the same effect as wrapping it? create that kind of pressure drop?

I have never heard of this.....who told you this? I dont understand how it could create a pressure drop because the heat wrap keeps the heat inside of the tubing, therefore the molecules travel faster since its hotter and helps the exhaust flow faster.....please explain more.

Bumping this in case anyone can provide some technical knowledge.

Is this because hotter exhaust gasses are encountering more resistance than colder exhaust? I could see how this might be true, as they will expand more and cause a bit of a bottleneck, but I would think that the higher speed of hot gasses would evacuate more quickly

What downpipe / o2 housing do you run, C6?

agree with the principle, but a 2-4# loss in boost from wrapping the downpipe? Gimme a break......
