Safe w/ no flash until spring check...

First, the mods: Full TBE 3" w/test pipe and mech O2 fix; EBC (came w/car and working great/ GReddy pro II spec b; K&N drop-in;

Obviously will not see full potential of parts until tune.

The results of my searching can be summed up with:

"safe boost to run is 20-21 psi w/93 octane on stock ECU programming due to very rich factory settings"

Question is, is this safe to run to stock rev limiter ie. 7500-7800?

No, it is not my habit. I intentionally shift no higher than redline on occasion, and most driving is safely about town.

I appreciate any confirmation/refutation :] I know "e-mail tune 50$ just spend it". Need to spend money on other things (snow tires, etc.)

Thanks, gentlemen. Please set my mind at ease and

Tom

Your plenty fine running 21 on 93. Actually your still going to be pretty rich, but I wouldnt pump the boost up that much more without a tune. Your fine to wait though, and its not just 50 bucks for a mail in. You also need the cable which is another 90.

I did the same exact thing for almost 20k miles. youre good to go. get a wideband before you get the tune. Then you will be able to moniter it better and will see the difference when you finally do buy the tune.

you're fine.

do not do a mail in tune. each car's engine drives differently. if you do a mail in, whoever does your flash has a preset map that they simply upload. it's better to bring your car to a good tuner who will either street tune or dyno tune it.

BTW, there is no "silver" RS for your trunk lid trade.

There are only red and white RS.

Also, how is that your evo came w/ EBC? Did. you buy it used, if so it may already have a ECU flash..

Thanks for the responses guys.

Chris, 21psi is safe, but only running 20psi on the MR ? or am I just missing something... is there no 93 in Nevada? True on the cable, just trying to not make my original post too long-winded :]. Thanks again for the validation on the 21psi on 93.

althemean, thanks for the peace of mind from doing the same thing. Where you running 21 psi at the time on 93? Are there any temp ways to hook up a wideband? I like the idea of monitoring it, but not in any rush to put another guage in my cockpit . I hope the "surgery" works out well for you

thisxguy, I have very few options on tuner shops in the Vt. area. Some of the members gave me a couple of good suggestions not too far away, a few weeks back, but still out of state.

spyderx, Yeah someone mentioned that to me attribute it to my newb-ness (but I would sure have loved a silver one Yes, I bought it used (2003 w/8,XXX mi.) never driven in rain even (and I believed him after jacking the car up and crawling around under it for a while) I wondered if it had already been flashed, but the PO said it was never tuned, but then again the "Professional" who installed the EBC had the vacuum hoses reversed (thanks to this board, I got them squared away) so I may not have trusted him to get it right anyways if it was tuned.

Thanks again for all the help gentlemen, and hope to hear a bit more and a few answers to the follow-up questions (man, I love this board :] already gotten me out of a few quandaries.

Tom
