TBE w/o Tune
TBE w/o Tune
How safe would it be to run a GReddy Ti-C full 80 mm TBE without a tune? The guy that is going to sell me his exhaust says he ran fine without one. Thoughts?
I was thinking since the engine runs rich on the stock tune and the exhaust does not replace the 02 housing that I could get away with it without an issue since my car is otherwise stock minus a drop in filter.
Also, is there a way to fix the CEL that would result from installing this exhaust?

You will be fine for a while. Get a Wide Band asap tho to monitor A/F. Yes evos run rich 2011 i hear not so much rich. What year is yours?? To be safe tho you should get it tuned sooner than later esp if you have a down pipe. Buddy of mine has a stock DP but a full 3'' Exhaust and test pipe. No Probs what so ever. Not even a check engine light. But yes in theory you be ok. just get wide band to watch....... GL
Why wouldn't you just get a tune. The gains you'll see will be minimal, and your money would much better invested in a tune, even with no mods.
I can't seem to grasp why people mod their cars with no tune.

And I know I could tune without buying these parts, but wouldnt that require a retune? I dont have the money to keep tuning every time I choose to add another part so it makes sense for me to get the parts first and then tune.
I have the Greddy ti-c turboback exhaust and had it on for months on the stock tune, no problems. I waited for more mods till i get tuned( currently a work in progress ) i have a 2011. If you have any other questions feel free to p.m me

Yes I have several friends with Evo Xs running without a tune but have the parts(you mentioned) already installed so its fine. When you install the exhaust be sure to also install a CEL mechanical fix. Its a spacer for the 02 sensor on the midpipe. This will tend to keep the CEL off longer than running it without one.

Thanks for all the input guys!
You won't have a problem w/o tune. Just make sure you get a test pipe similar to ours that has the o2 spacer/J-bung o2 to pull the secondary sensor out of stream. This will make sure you don't set off any crazy check engine lights and go into limp mode.
Basically the guy is offering me the GReddy full 80 mm turboback exhaust, a brand new in box Grimmspeed 3 port, and an upper IC pipe, for $400.

So could I get away with just running the tbe without an O2 fix? Honestly I would love a different setup but this makes A LOT of sense for me financially. Once I have the money I could always sell the exhaust and get a sweet ETS setup
What are your thoughts Michael?
You could always purchase a screw in j-bung from vibrant that hooks into an existing o2 sensor bung.

If you do decide to sell the exhaust, we would be more then happy to help you
