Performance Gains?

Hey everyone

Ive been away from the evo community for awhile, and havent been able to follow new products at all.

I have a bone stock evo 9 and was wondering if people have tried this injen kit?

http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...7&cat=2&page=1

Ive tried searching, but it doesnt seem to be popular. Are there good gains? Fitment? Will it take a Tial BOV?

Also, it seems as though a lot of people are running VTA BOV's with these. This used to be un heard of. As long as its tuned for it from say a Dynoflash, is it okay to do?

The reason why i ask is that when im in boost, and slowly let off throttle, it is extremely jerky. I have to quickly let off for it be somewhat smooth, and i was thinking it had to do with the stock BPV.

Thanks in advance, and if this has been covered before, i apologize, but i couldnt find it,

JoshR

if your cars bone stock dont start with an intake, save ur money, get an exhaust, or something simple like just a base reflash, or a mbc.

Yeah, I was planning on getting the Hallman MBC, Tial BOV, maybe this Injen kit because i want the i/c piping, and getting dynoflashed.

I just dont know how good this kit is because its really cheap.

Thanks for the reply

3" TBE, MBC and a flash are the best bang for the buck. The intake and upper ic piping helps a little as long as you getting a tune or flash after installing. The VTA BOV is no good with the MAF.

Even with a custom tune? I just want to try and eleminate the part throttle jerkyness.

You can try MaftPro if you want to run VTA of course it takes alot of time to calibrate correctly :P

get an adjustable recirc valve. sounds like yours is too tight. Do you hear a fluttering sound when you let off slowly?

Don't waste your money on an intake. Stock does just fine. Just get a drop in filter.

Terrible decisions. Why in the world do you want a Tial BOV on a stockish Evo? The Tial is VTA and is to be used with huge turbos while running a standalone EMS with speed density. No, a tune has nothing to do with running VTA - the tune is only for smoothing out the turbulence caused by the intake, which also is not needed. On top of all that, your stock BOV is AMAZING. Why would you be trying to change it? That makes no sense. All you need is an MBC, exhaust, boost gauge, and tune to make damn near 70whp over stock. You can do that for as little as $1270 shipped with the package in my sig as an example.

I have an unbelievable jerkyness when letting off slowly while in boost, like say to get onto the highway. It feels as though the engine just chokes in really quick intervals. I figured it would be caused by my stock BPV. I really dont want an exhaust yet though, trying to do mods that i can take off easy incase of any issues with the car arise (like my 2nd to 3rd grind)...

That's normal on any Evo that has a strong BOV - you aren't supposed to let off slowly from a part-throttle/partial boost situation.

No reason to do other mods without an exhaust. It's just as easy to re-install the stock exhaust as it is to do that whole Injen intake/uicp thing, yet one gets you 30whp while the other is just for bling.

.

Unbelievable jerkiness is normal? Obviously not. Is it so unbelievable that the stock DV could have failed somehow or is slightly defective?

Your solution for fixing his problem is selling him your "wartalon" package? Great... thats super great advice...
