Does Anybody Know Where Get This?
I really want this cold air intake. It is for the the EVO VII but I am willing to cut my front grill to make this fit. The only place I could find it is from some site in all Japanese ( http://www.monster-sport.com/evovii/evovii2.html ) I can't even tell how much it costs. Does anybody know where to purchase this in the States somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Definately doesn't block MOST of the radiator by any means. It does block some of it though. I haven't noticed any problems with my car getting hot at all. Have you installed one of these and you know this to be an issue, or are you just speculating? Has anybody installed one of these on an VIII yet?
I'm just speculating since the car gets so hot after a couple of laps. Just thought i need all the cooling i need
One way to find our right?
I don't think it'll make much gains. If you want performance get shiv stage 0 or an afc,mbc combo with muffler of course. Remember we have a turbocharged car. Raming air probably wouldn't be as benificial as N/A cars.

EVOeight,
I had a look at the site and it costs 39,000 Yen which is about 325 dollars when using 120 Yen to the dollar.
A rough translation of the blurb is that it's a Hi density Fresh Air Induction Kit, which feeds fresh air directly into the airbox. Addition of this kit, improves response and improves power.
It also says that if you have the standard Evo hood, you will need to modify/cut the rear of the bonnet in order to make it fit. But if you use their Monster Carbon bonnet (hood) no modification is needed. Connects directly to standard air box and weighs 0.8 kg.
I'm not sure how much the tortuous path will degrade the ram air effect, but me and a few friends flat out tested our bikes one year. My zx6r which uses ram air and is rated at 99 hp 600cc motor was faster on top end ( acceleration / flat out speed ) than a VFR750 which was rated at 108 hp ( it was modded ) and had 150cc's more to boot. I was also pulling (slowly) on a Suzuki RF900 rated at 118 hp. So from this experience I know Ram air is worth it on Normally aspirated engines. Turbos dunno.

you can get the same one cheaper at http://www.rallytech.co.uk/m7_carbonairbox.php
I don't believe the airbox you posted in that link goes into the grille area like the Monster Sport airbox.
Instead of doing that, I would save for the FMIC; you're halfway there if you are going to get the airbox from Vivid. Once you've done that, remove your waterspray bottle and make an aluminum divider to go around your rampod intake. Thus it will pull air from the fender well.. There is a blockoff plate on the driver's side inlet (opposite the oil cooler inlet on the passenger side) that you can remove to pull more air in. Much cheaper "ram" air albeit not all covered in composites.
BTW, this is what myself and Al both do.

MOnster sport intake
The monster sport intake in your link is strictly for the EVO VII. Yea you have to modify the hood and also cut the top part of the front bumper next to the radiator. I have the VIII and tried to fit it but it wont becos our front bumper is curved whereas the VII one is fairly flat and straight. My guys cut and modified the thing to fit as you can see in this pic. Funny thing is, I did this before monster realised it wont fit the VIII. Anyway, they have released their new carbon intake for the VIII and guess what... it looks exactly like what I did to the VII one. Also, you would want to change your filter element with this ram air intakes. Monster has a red spongy thing one that fits like the ralliart one straight into the stock airbox. Sorry i had to edit the image cos it was too big
It costs the same amount as ZX6R says in Japan. Iam a customer, not a vendor. Your shops over there should be getting this piece from Monster in Japan soon. At a premium though.. sometimes I envy how cheap your cars are there in the states, but when I see how much your mods cost.... sigh...
