buschur ic's
i agree with david. go with the race core. it gives you room to grow and its better all around. better power everywhere. if you are worried about lag, buy a non-turbo car!

With most larger IC's you do experience pressure drop and some lag. I had a big FMIC on my 240 and had a EBC and i didnt feel any lag compared to some of my friends who just had the FMIC. My only guess was the EBC was compensating for lag.
I dont know if your being sarcastic but thats the whole point of a boost test. Ive done hundreds of boost tests since I had my DSM when I was 17. The car had no boost leaks. Period. If it did have one that I couldnt here, it was so negligible it would not affect spool up or top end power.
Interesting.
I know on your website that the Deluxe IC description says that it can support 750HP with minimal pressure drop (.84 psi), but what of the Race IC.
I wouldn't think the pressure drop between the Race IC and Deluxe IC would provide a substantial benefit in performance.
Maybe in terms of big turboed Evo's that pressure difference can make or break the difference between a 10-sec. Evo and a 9-sec. Evo?
Curious because I have an appointment to install a Deluxe IC and wondering if the upgrade to the Race is worth it.
If so I have to call your shop.
The pressure drop on the cores, all of them we offer, is quite low. There is more to the intercooler than pressure drop though, there is cooling. That's where the race really shines. The cooling capability of it is tremendous. It is rated at 1100 hp, for comparison of our standard and deluxe kits which are rated at 750 hp.
For once I would have to agree with Buschur. My feeling is that you should run as large an intercooler as possible to maximize cooling efficiency. For the custom front mount I made with MP Fab I noticed no lag and the core is the same size as Buschur's. I also noticed a 1psi increase in boost pressure which would indicate a reduction in pressure loss. In theory, the reduction in pressure loss (restriction) would yield better flow and faster filling time of the core. I do need to state that I also replaced the IC pipes as well. In conclusion, don't skimp on the core and go as large as possible, especially if you only run pump gas as this will maximize power across the board.
I think there could be an issue if the FMIC is too big. Back in my DSM days you would be nuts to run a FMIC on the crappy T-25 which was less then HALF the size of the Evo 16G in terms of CFM's.
I would immagine that the BR Delux FMIC is the best unit to get especially if it comes with the built in Lower IC PIPE.
Hey dave, how does the lower IC pipe hook up to the Turbo? I would really like some pics of that. Also how do you get one to fit to the IX? Thanks

The race is the way to go, period. Stock turbo or not. It is not the cheapest of our intercoolers but it is the best.
The lower i/c pipe is a seperate cost with the race. The Deluxe comes with the lower pipe. It is two pieces now. One that attaches to the intercooler and then another that attaches to the turbo.
Yes, we have EVO9 pipes for all of our intercoolers and the stock one.

I was also wondering how much WHP just the lower pipe ALONE adds. I remember reading countless threads showing that the Delux FMIC had gained 15WHP, but then again, adding a lower IC pipe does the same and the Delux unit comes with a lower IC pipe built right in.
What licp are you guys useing with the race ic? I already have the Buscher licp but now find out you need a custum pipe? I ordered the race ic today. Can you modify the buscher licp to fit the race ic?
I have no idea how much just the lower adds. The lower i/c pipe was a part we built from customer demand. I have never dyno'd just the pipe back to back on the dyno.
I have dyno'd some car with a lower stock replacement pipe that have done well on the dyno with limited other parts so there just might be something there.
