more torque???

ok, a friend of mine just got an 03 evo 8 , it was previously tuned by vividracing and put down in the 320 awhp range, it has 3in. turbo back,w/ 02, high flow cat, hard piping, intake, t3/t4(50 trim? doesnt spool 21 pounds until about 4000) stock looking manifold, ams 880cc injectors, fuel pump?maybe, havent checked yet, hks 264 cams, no cam gears besides replacing the turbo back to stock since we arent running more than 21 pounds, what can we do to get more torque out of this car, future possible mods are going to be better FMIC and test pipe, according to ams worth about 30 more hp, any help appreciated, lata

Chris

An easy way to make more Tq. is to increase boost. But, you got your heart set on not wanting to go above 21 psi.
21 psi is low, even on a T3/T4 set up. Bump it up some, and you will gain 20-30 lbs. Tq.

the only problem with upping boost is that we r pretty sure the car has factory head studs. as far as i was informed 23-24 psi was pushin our luck, the t3/t4 is getting ditched by the way, probably to be replaced by a 16g, p&p, 10.5 hotside. the car is retarded slow below 4000, im saying that and i love evos, if 22-23 psi wont kill it, he would probably do that, and have ams retune it because the tune it has now kinda blows, crappy idle, likes to die with clutch in/rolling, not happy to move at all when cold, i understand its cammed but it runs kinda crappy, and eats gas like nobodies business, not to complain, we just need to fix these issues because this car is going to be our shop/show car, and it needs to run good and not be a highway runner. thanks for the help guys

a stock 16g can handles 25psi with racing gas with no problems and since your friend has 50 trim turbo, its craving for more psi dont be scared up the boost a little.

Just install a stroker That will give you the torque you are looking for.

the stroker idea has been brought up by myself but we dont have that kinda time or cash for that, its getting alot of other stuff for this years show season, more power is next year seeing as when in boost its pretty quick... well thanks for the imput guys, im going to start a project build up thread in evo show n shine that way it kinda shows how we are building our evo to suit the best of both worlds! so stay tuned. thanks again, merry christmas--Chris

Put the stock cams back in if you want a better low-end.
