quick help tap!?

hey guys

I'm going to make this short. I need some help.

I just changed my oil. I used the synthetic 10 w 30 royal purple high performance engine oil. And a fram filter. (just incase that helps.

But any way, after I started it up I hear a tapping, and it sounds like its comming from the valve train. Could it be minor like an air bubble or do I have a lifter thats going up.?

thanx for the responses!

Is it just ticking that gets softer while it runs a bit? Most Evos have this type of lifter tick and perhaps it is just more noticeable with the new oil.

it will eventualy fade out. you can swap it up to bigger lifters. its common on the 98 and below eclipses' the 98 and below 3000gts' for some reason they fixed the problem with some bigger lifters in the 99's..

swap them out when you get the chance to some BLE EVO Lifters. and it will fix your problem.

**iam not sure but if its close to the eclipse you might be able to put in some 99's or some 3g eclipse lifters.** Please if this is wrong let me know iam possitive about the BLE but unsure about the 2g compatible parts into the evo.

my uncle used to be a mechanic. He looked/ listened to it and said that it was the lifter.

My car is still under warranty so I was thinking of trying to cut a deal with the manager to see if I buy the ble solid lifters will they put them in instead of oem hydrolic

Without starting the debate all over again, I would just like to point out solid lifters will in fact be as noisy or close and require more maintainence. Stock hydraulics are you'll ever need as far as I am concerned. If it didnt do this before your recent oil change (and it just started) change to a thicker version of the same oil or go back to what you ran.

Fram oil filter? Wow. I put higher quality oil filters on my lawn mower...

As for the ticking, replace your stockers with the set offered from JAM. You'll have a silent valvetrain if your only problem is a noisy lifter. I installed them and would recommend them to anyone.

JAM~EVO 3rd Gen 'Non-Ticking' 3mm Big Bore Lifter
This is our 3rd gen 3mm Big Bore lifters, they are the only "Upgraded" replacement lifter you will ever need. We have tried them all and none compare to these.
Fits all EVO series 2.0 4g63 cylinder heads prefectly. Priced for the complete 16 piece set. $160

Lifter tick is more noticeable when using anything other than the Mobil1 10w30 oil that is recommended.

from what I understand the Mobil1 is thicker hence less lifter noise.
