Question Evo drivers only...

sometimes when im floorin my baby in 1st.... and hit the clutch a lil more than halfway.... ( not even switchin gears leaving it in first) i get like a little mini.... kinda hard to describe it.... sorta a kick but its not a kick... sorta a bog but damn sure aint a bog... its more like.. hmm... and its audible too... ne one else have this problem? floorin in first hit the clutch pretty hard and it just doesnt smoothly go into N like it should... thats the best i can really describe it.... also... when putting the shifter into first gear... anyone sometimes have the damn problem of it feels like halfway into the gear there a click...? im pretty sure its not the syncros im feeling... and one last thing.. today it was raining... and gunned it on first... no i didnt drop my clutch... i slowly started out and then i floored it.. of course my tires kind of lost traction when the turbo spooled in.. but i heard a "boom" sorta... coming from my wheel area.... and NO i didnt hit jack ****.... ok 1 last thing... our warranty sucks ***... whoever said they were very happy with out warranty in this forum i forget who it was your a dumbass.... u put 1 single damn thing on our car including even a damn system and our warranty is void and u think thats a good warranty?? yea right.... but anyways... this is a must... if there are problems in our cars in the future and of course almost every evo is going to have mods which void our warranty.... but if there is a problem with any part.... and mitsu says it dont matter bcuz you threw something on that voided your warranty... we all need to petetion them and let them know wsup.... because reality is obviously they are going to not want to lose their money... and blame it on watever aftermarket part u may have on it... but im pretty damn sure if all of us evo owners say otherwise.. what choice will they be left with other than to recall all our mitsus...

Yes, very confused... As for the warranty thing, no, they will NOT void your warranty for putting in a sound system. That's completely absurd! As for the rest, by law they can only refuse warranty service if it's proven that the aftermarket part in question was the cause of the problem, they can't just make a blanket void of your warranty. For instance, if you get an aftermarket intake, and your rear differential goes out (and not due to misuse), then your differential HAS to be covered even though you have an aftermarket intake.

It still works out to the same thing. If you install a system and it messes up something electrical in your car and it's proven the system was the cause, then you're right, the warranty will not cover those electrical damages. However, again, if you install a system and your transmission goes out, it is flat-out ILLEGAL for them to deny warranty coverage because you have a system in your car since there is no way it could have affected (let alone proven to have affected) your transmission. Everything on that list has the potential to void certain AREAS of your warranty, but most certainly not the entire warranty.

As for the shifting problem, unless what you're describing is an extreme resistance to shifting out of 1st, it's probably just the normal crispness of the transmission, though it's really hard to say without experiencing it firsthand. If you just got your Evo, it may just smooth out as you break your car in. It is possible, though, that you are having some sort of real problem and it's just not accurately being conveyed with words. If it really does seem like a problem, just have your dealer check it out.

liandrin... your gettin me a little unsure now but i am still pretty sure i am right... i asked the kat at the dealership over n over again..... im pretty sure our whole warranty gets voided... thats wat they told me at the dealership.... i thought it was ****in rediculous.... the service guy that would actually work on my car took me on a test drive to find the rattle.... i talked to him he was a cool guy... i asked him if i put tien suspension on and then lets say my tranny blew that **** wouldnt get fixed under warranty? he said in certain cases i would have to use my judgement.... but he said mitsu themselves said they were very strict with the evo warranty rules.... any aftermarket mod to our car voids our warranty period!... now i think each service dept has a limit up to where they can bend that rule... i dont kno im due for my 1st pitstop at the dealership cuz i have 4500 miles on my car already so i guess ill ask them some more specific questions to try to clear up any misconceptions everyone might have about the warranty.. but i don tkno they might get annoyed of me cuz i kept askin the last time i was there they actually told me to call mitsu themselves if i wanted more details.... also i did ask them about ralliart parts and if i got them installed at the dealership if i could keep my warranty.. they said NO.... the evo wins.... if u are getting the same thing..... YOU THINK THIS IS A PROBLEM??? doesnt feel like its right.... bcuz it only happens sometimes...

What you just described is a violation of federal law. Look for information on the Magnusson-Moss warranty act. I am not questioning that someone has told you this, but it is completely false and I believe that person has violated the federal warranty act by even implying that they can/would do that.

chillin, it is agaisnt federal law to try to void an entire car warranty b/c of a specific aftermarket part.. like liandrin said, they can only deny warrant work on a specific thing due to a specific thing that MUST be related. for example, I put in a sound system, then my electrical system goes haywire, they dont have to cover that. so i pay to have the electrical repaired, then my tranny dies. its still covered under warranty.. the electrical fiasco didnt void my entire warranty.. it just basically voided it as far as the electrical system of the car is concerned..

as for the tranny issue, it might be the engine slowing down while gear is half engaged... try pushing the clutch all the way in before letting go of gas, then shift... it should ease soem of your issues.. if not, show me what you mean if you show up this saturday to dyno

sound like yall need to go to the dealer and show it to a TECH. dont worry about describing something that you feel is wrong to us, we cant do shiet for you. lol. its warrantee time baby. u should come post after the tech looks at it and tells you what mitsu is gonna do about it. also sounds like you are letting go of the gas while u let go of the clutch, and that makes for a rough disengagement with clunk sounds and jerking and all.

HUH??? how the hell would i let go of the clutch if im not even holding onto it when im hitting the gas... but ne wayz... if its normal than its all good... admstunna... also there is a reason y i put it on the forum instead of talking to the dealership... bcuz the best knowledge comes from fellow owners not guys that just started looking at the car this year.... my tech guy probably hasnt even done one repair to an evo yet... who would kno better about the problems than us drivers
