what are the benfits and downfalls of both the maf or map system?
most ppl say that map is so much better and so much more drivable with a better idle? but why are car manifactures all going to maf???

i hear noting but complaints from ppl that have drive by wire cars. about how horriable the throttle response is and all. and if you have ever driver a dby car the trottle response is indead crap. but why are car companies all switching to dby?

ppl alway keep on saying that Mc Pherson suck and double wish bone is so much better and handles so much better but why are all the new cars Mc Pherson?
why ???

is it only because these new systems are cheeper to produce or are there actually some benifits from Mc Pherson, dby, and maf besides cost

bty i do have a slight stalling issue. i think its because of the hks rs intake and something to do with the maf sensor.

 

cost, platform sharing (related to cost) and trying to be similar to european cars.

 

i agree with all of that, and add homologation. not to mention every car maker trying to be competetive in every market, so more of the same. seems like the luxury coach builders are the ones making the profits nowadays using better, instead of "like everyone else" technology.

 

MAF is better at adapting to climate change quickly.
Mc Pherson is more compact and better for packaging and cheaper to produce.
Drive by wire is good for traction and stability control.

 

When DBW is done badly, it is --terrible--

MkIV volkwagens w/ DBW - awful, awful throttle lag.
