Smile Nisei intercooler + piping?

Hey guys I dont know if this has been covered.

Is the nisei setup worth doing on a car with just a few basic mods.

Works catback
works flash
works filter?

My goal is engine safety , moderate power, and the best drivability.

I have an evo 9 mr

I run the Nissei on my VIII and like it. The only caveat is that I can't use the undertray with it.

A lot of people say that an IC upgrade is unnecessary with the stock turbo, but I tend to disagree. At least from my point of view, the larger intercooler upgrade helps me to run 24 psi on 91 octane without a trace of knock. Try running 24 psi in 90*F. ambient, on 91 octane, with the stock turbo through the stock IC.

Well, nisei makes a awesome intercooler + piping, but it is VERY pricey... im not sure of the average power gain... but its prolly somthing like 15-25 WHP. So 459.. for the pipe kit... and 895 for the intercooler core... thats 1354$ +shipping. If you have 1300 to spend on a intercooler then go for it, prolly the best one for the car. But if you dont.. i would prolly get a downpipe/X-pipe(cat removal)/o2housing/boost controller... you really could gain more power for your money doing the small mods first.

well at least thats what im doing /w my IX MR.. soo

Thanks guys.

I agree its not the biggest bang for the buck, but I was also wondering how the shorter piping affects throttle response, does it make it better?

hmm I having the short piping, it feels like it help, but you can never really tell. probly just get the licp, that will give u power, and spool, the intercooler isnt needed at this time for yourself.

I have a full 3'' /w cat delete and downpipe, it makes the car a lot faster, it also creates a lot less backpressure, which is good for our cars. If your worried about the noise then get a High flow cat, and it will also keep it legal. They always say full exhaust should be the first power mod.

No regreats with mine, besides fitment was very bad. i got a RNR full kit /w HKS carbon TI muffler, its a great combo for only around 700 $. But RNR downpipe didnt fit my IX and was rubbing, so i had 2 get a megan DP.

Also upper intercooler piping does nothing for you, so if you wanna save some cash just go /w the intercooler core and LICP.

the first thing you need is a downpipe plus a high flow cat or test pipe before should even consider the intercooler w/ piping combo
