upgrading to revolver cams???
looking for some general consensus. I run HKS 272' straight up no gears or valvetrain upgrade. i was considering doing the revolver cams with my current setup in my signiture. what do u guys think worth the extra cheddar??? and what about cam gears are they and absolute neccesity at that point or will they make good power dropped straight in?. the HKS 272 gave me a +28 whp on the dyno (stock turbo) before/after without gears just dropped in!!!!! can i get away with that with revolvers??
Revolvers and Stock= a bad combo... someone correct me if I am wrong
My reason for thinking this would be, because the Revolvers are such a high rpm cam, which in turn would just over due the turbo... this would be my guess

Well they do come with upgraded springs and retainers. Thats where th extra cost comes from. You cannot run these on a stock head. You should defiantly pick up some power. I run them and love them.
When I first put them in with the cam gears zeroed out, the vacuum was so low that it made my pcv check ball keep rattling. But after I changed the cam gear settings all is well.

Most people making measurable power gains with the Revolvers have more radical setups than yours (ported head, maf-less, etc), and those with less-than-radical setups have generally not been very pleased with the results. Revolver's lack of responsiveness, and therefore customer service, has also not helped their sales.
As for cam gears, they're suggested by Revolver. As to why they didn't orient the grind to run the best for most people at 0/0 is beyond me.
Buschur seems to like them, though -- whatever that's worth. He'll also be the first to tell you that they idle horribly and that you should at least have a speed density setup to run them..he doesn't even suggest them for street applications.
My personal experience with them was not nearly as positive and therefore I cannot even endorse the cams for radical applications. They made a terrible valvetrain noise (not the aforementioned PCV clatter) when run at 0/0, and didn't make any power on the dyno over HKS 264's with my 3076. Again, mild to moderately modified cars shouldn't run these cams. Purchase at your own risk.

My experience has been quite different. My revolvers are run at 0/0 and have performed very well on both the stock and TME turbo. I love these cams. But I do have fully ported head, manifolds, etc. though. Yes there was a lack of vacuum at first which really was not an issue, but I did get a bit more out of it later.
Here is a good thread about these cams in Timzcat's car, which I now own.

Cheers!

EDIT: Lest this post invoke flaming, let me say that my experience with these cams is somewhat anecdotal because my setup is unique. It is, however, beneficial information for the original poster.

Your wrong- Revolver and stock ecu is ok.... In personal experience it depends on how good your tuner is.
wrong again- dyno sheet have proven time and time again that these cams create faster spool and more tq
Well Im out in the market for a new set of cams, tired of HKS 272's and want to buy something that improves spoolup and add more power/torque to my 50trim setup.
I will keep checking this thread
