Revolver Cams + Valvetrain Upgrade Finally Going In
Revolver Cams + Valvetrain Upgrade Finally Going In
Reading about David's success with the 20G-9 paired with these cams has me very excited to get mine in on Saturday. The plan is to head out to Tuning Technologies tomorrow afternoon and do a baseline run with my setup just as it is now (mods in my signature). The car will remain there overnight, and the cams/gears/valvetrain will be upgraded on Saturday morning. I will return to the shop on Saturday afternoon to tune the new setup. I'm doing all of this on 91 octane now that I'm in Los Angeles. The dyno graph below was done on 93, however, surprising as it may be, I'm not knocking using 91 on the same setup (I can read data coming directly from the knock sensor -- I'm not just guessing).
Unlike Dave, I will be using cam gears. After speaking with the designers, and those most familiar with these cams, I believe that the gears will be critical to tuning for both strong power and a decent idle. I will start with -4/-3, and adjust as necessary. (Unorthodox Racing Cam Gears will be used)
This graph was on a Mustang Dyno. Tuning Technologies uses a Dynojet. Would anyone like to guess what kind of power I'll be making on the Dynojet + 91 octane + 25psi?

Not sure if you expect to get the power david was getting but he was on race gas if you missed that note in his new post. Either way, the cams will help out really nicely to spoolup the turbo never the less

You will definitely like them. If you are going from no cams to the Revolvers then hold onto your hat because you will gain a lot of torque. I would definetly expect 40 ft lbs just for the fact that I saw a big difference over the HKS 272s.
I am in the same boat as Pd1. I will be going to tuning technologies on the 24th of February to put in my revolvers, and tune with the cams and the 20g-9. I am hoping for some good power on 91.

Interested to see how things turn out.

ask Zeus....hhehehee
Get ready for that lumpity idle 280's are too much for me Revolver's make the car sound like it will stall, but if tuned right it won't. I would rather like to run 2-3more psi then have my car idle like there is something wrong with it.
