Unhappy B&M Adjustable SS doesnt fit IX

okay so im stuck with a SS part number 45186 which doesnt fit an IX.
Does anyone know of a short shifter that will FOR SURE fit a 2006 IX?

Thanks guys, this is really frustating since I had to put the car back together and wasted 2 hours and I am virtually stuck with a shifter I cant use.

Why can't I use it?

well the pivots do not fit into the housing connected to the cables, and if I set the shifter for a 50% reduction then it sits so low on the shifter assembly that it hits the chassis and can not opereate... hope this helps someone.

I just put in Lancer shop chepo SS in my IX. The fit is great and worked ok.

so, you did place the pivot boots onto your SS legs? then I don't see why it should'nt fit back into the cup?

mine is non-adj, set at 35% reduction. Mabye try 35%?

I repeat, you have to reuse the pivot boots from your stock shifter.

IX 5 or 6 speed?
I assume your car is a 6 speed, since no one makes a Short Shifter for the 6 speed.

Well my kit comes with boots already, and those do not fit. I didnt try re-using mine... why should I have to? if the the boots are larger then the actual ball is larger too.

I would love to try to just leave it a 30% reduction, but that is not the fact. i paid extra money so that it could be "adjustable"

so far i ordered some metal bushings from lancershop for the shifter and under the hood, plus the shifter retainer so that I dont have to cut my stock shifter.

I just would like for someone to confirm that they got their B&M adjustable shifter working with the 50% reduction on their evo VIII and IX

check the part number of your SS w/ B&M, you may have gotten wrong part.

did you cut the shifter tower where it specifies to trim...you need to remove a rectangular piece about 5/8" by 1"... that may help with your clearances...I think the shift towers are the same on the VIII and IX. hope this helps.

they should be exactly the same... i dont see why it wouldnt fit, you have to be doing something wrong..

50% is waaay to short... that has to do damage to something... impossible it doesn't. and with the 35% its a little stiffer than the stock with 50% my guess is your gonna need two hands to shift lol

i have the lancershop authority s.s. its great... i've felt a few other and they all are about the same. i got it used for basically nothing. if i didn't find the deal my next fav for the kartboy s.s.

The part number is the correct number for the adjustable shifter for the 7-8. If your 9 is a 5 speed it will fit. They haven't updated their site.

The problem you are encountering is because the shifter base needs to be notched out so it will not interfere with the bottom shaft's throw. If you look in the instructions there should be a picture showing the portion that needs to be removed. I used a dremel tool to cut it.
With that said save yourself the headache of notching it out! Stay with the shorter throw setting. I have switched back and forth and really feel the lowest setting is better.

Our shifters can be notchy and a slightly longer throw will make for a more positive engagement.

Additionally, there are brass bushing in the lever's pivot. Be very careful when reassembling these bushing. They are very delicate and get damaged easily. Replace them if they get damaged because they will affect the smoothness of the shift. Replacements are available only through the dealership ($4-6?).

well guys, it works now !!

I had to cut a large "hole" taking out a extra triangular piece in addition to what they tell you to cut (to use the 45% reduction). Also for the bushings, i had to reuse the upper one. For some reason the one enclosed in my kit is too large in diameter.

Well B&M just needs to revise their instruction sheet. all parts work fine !! thank you for the encouragement guys i was starting to stress. All I need now is the lever retainer and I ordered some speed-something under the hood bushings.

So far 3-4 feel awesome, nice a short and very precise !! cant wait for the retained to come in !!!!!

do you guys think that the Speed source shifter bushings are better than the onces enclosed by B&M ? being that the B&M are only a replament on the bottom?

I have an adjustable Perrin SS (set at 50%), GReddy shift knob and the Speed source brass shifter tower/base bushings and love the way it shifts...feels more solid when shifting

I also suggest getting SS braided clutch line, remove restrictor pill, and the 2pc metal linkage bushings...you can install all these mods yourself easily for under $70 and get solid consistent launching and shifting

yep, that is what i have so far minus the clutch line and under the hood bushings...
see the B&M adjustable kit comes with some bushings, but they are only 4 rathern than 8 like the speed source which go on top and bottom. B&M only go on the bottom...
