May sound stupid, but what about the boost gauge itself and its tubing?

This seems very logical and makes perfect sense.

If you can hear and feel it but have no leaks in your plumbing there isnt much else that it can be. Something must be blocking the intake tract.

You should:

1. check engine lights?
2. check boost with different boost gauge
3. check for boost leaks

if ok then...

1. change the plugs.
2. check the coil packs for defects
3. check the spark plug wires
4. check for leaks around the MAS

if nothing still...

1. check for fuel leaks
2. check for injector electrical harness for looseness
3. check injectors

if nothing still.......

take it somewhere because you've missed something...

I agree with him. I've known 2 people to have this problem. I'll bet the hood was up on the dyno and that's why it made power. Close proximity of the duct and hood when closed is most likely causing a huge amount of "suction" and is fascilitating the problem. When the hood was open on the dyno there was nothing to restrict it.

Yeah, sounds pretty obvious. I thought everyone knew about this by now. Of course it doesn't happen when the hood is up on the dyno, haha.

For future reference, here's my calling card:

came home from dinner, read the thread, removed snorkel (which had no screws holding it down), drove car which ran and drove perfect, kicked myself in A*S, then posted this...

OMG, i cant believe how stupid this was, i mean i knew it would be dumb but not this dumb. I feel so dumb, lol. Its funny to cuz it would have taken me a week to figure it out too. I did a spring and o2 housing install the night before last and one of the little screws holding down the snorkel scoop thing dissapeared so i took the one off my car for his car. And i had already been missing one because i lost one of mine too when I did my MBC install. I cant believe it was that stupid, thank you for pointing that out to me!!!

Yeah, when I figured it out, I didn't care how stupid it was, because being able to fix a huge problem like that within seconds with no parts needed was a huge relief.

As a suggestion, instead of removing the snorkel, go grab two clips out of your trunk lining and use those. The trunk lining has 10, I think, so it won't matter if you remove 2 of them.

how did you actually figure out it was that? I think i would have just installed an intake eventually, but how did you figure it out?
