Yep. Imagine this: An Innovate LC-1 kit is $199. Shipping it here costs $91.

It's amazing what shipping companies get away with!

The HKS MAF hardpipe (The one that is made to work with the stock airbox, NOT Racing Suction kit) does not require a retune. HKS p/n 1302-SM006. This is it, but it is usually in stock at HKS and some other vendors:

You can use it with the stock airbox without a retune. I have recently tried it with a new HKS Super Mega flow Reloaded filter. It also works great with it too. The a/f ratio changed about .2 a/f points (leaner) fully across the board when I added the super mega flow, but I picked up 1 psi of boost at the same boost controller setting, and alot of throttle response.

That is the only one I would suggest running. Others you are taking a chance with screwing up the MAF signal or may not fit PERFECTLY.

As to whether it makes more power of not, probably not.

Another option is the Samco or the Forge silicon hose that replaces the black, rubber, undulated factory piece with a smooth flowing, cleaner looking silicone piece.

I have this same setup on my IX. I have the HKS hardpipe to the stock MAF and airbox. This seems to work fine except that it makes the system alittle longer and the stock airbox doesnt quite line up with the screw anchor holes. I did not notice any gains or power difference from this. I had the ECU flashed for the HKS suction kit which i run halfway minus the filter.

Mine fit perfectly with the stock airbox. All the clips and bolts lined up just like stock. You have almost infinite adjustment with the couplings that come with it. You shouldnt have been tuned for the Racing suction if you dont have the racing suction. They had to add fuel in the mid range, if it was a Racing suction tune. You dont need that with your setup.

I would seriously consider getting a wide band AFR monitor before messing with the intake.

Hmmm thats what i was thinkin, if Al flashed for a HKS SRI, then maybe i might not be running good on the stock setup with just the HKS harpipe..........So with that said, maybe i should just take it all out, and put the HKS full setup in, but i have heard most people on here prefer the stock with drop in K&N filter than the HKS suction kit

been using a k&n hard pipe with an ITE filter for about a year. yesterday I reinstalled the stock air pipe and filter. did I notice any difference, nothing I could feel.
I'm on an aftermarket emc so the maf problem is not an issue in my case.

btw got the setup for sale, might be worthwhile if you have a big turbo

so there is no difference between a hard pipe intake versus the stock pipe intake (rubber piece) attached with the cone filter?

still no answer to that...

Well, unfortunately, the accordion MAF pipe is designed that way specifically for how it works with the MAF. It may seem neat to remove it and get something smooth, but that doesn't mean it's actually better.
