Stock rubber intake hose Vs. Hard pipe?

Are there any bennefits with replacing the stock rubber intake hose with a hardpipe? Im debating on whether to just slap on a K&N ontot he stock pipe. Or if i should purchase a Buschur Air Filter kit with the hardpipe? Are thre any bennefits?

Has anyone here fabricated a custom hard pipe? What are the dimensions, and will I need anything else besides the pipe?

Yes, people have fabricated custom ones...like the company K&N who made the Typhoon, which is an absolute abomination. I wouldn't recommend trying to make your own, because it has to follow a strict pattern in order to ensure the MAF doesn't get affected negatively. Buschur has done a good job with the one they sell, but it took work to get it right.

The PITA is that buying a $50 pipe from Buschur will see shipping at another $50, which is downright ridiculous. That's why I was thinking of getting one custom fabricated. But not at the risk of another CEL. I finally got rid of that P0300 and I'm not about to start getting paranoid over another one

$50 to ship a little pipe? Are you sure? It's not much more than that to ship a transmission...

If you look at where he's located it's not exactly CO International shipping is murder

+1 for Buschur hard pipe if you're going to go that route, though. Better to get something that's been tested and proven to work and not mess with the air flow. Last thing you want is a Typhoon tyraid like K&N produced with their intake pipe.

i would wait and buy a bunch of parts at once so ya dont have to get something shipped every so often, even though its more fun to open 10 box's instead of 1 lol

salam!

He let you "borrow" it? Are you sure he's not playing a sick joke on you. The hard pipe of the K&N Typhoon is the part that doesn't work right on Evos. I don't understand how there are still people out there who don't know any better than to put this on their Evo, ESPECIALLY A NEW IX!!! Take that piece of crap off your car right now - it is a horrible design and does NOT work. You don't need a hard pipe to hear the turbo - that comes from the removal of the stock airbox, but if you do that, you MUST get tuned.
