Carrillo rods are about 566-567 grams, anybody have the weights handy for any of the other rod weights?

I too want a similar power output as the OP maybe a little closer to 500WHP and without the N2O. Is there an advantage to using the stock 85mm bore with the stock 9.0:1 compression ratio in-terms of reliability? I'm currently utilizing my stock turbo and plan on pushing it as far as it'll go maybe 28 psi without meth injection.

Will Wiseco Pistons, with 85mm bore and CR of 9.0:1 be able to handle this much boost? I would assume that they're forged 2618T-61 Aluminum Alloy correct?. If anyone needs more info here's the link from SBR's online store...
http://www.slowboyracing.com/estore/...at=1599&page=1

Also which rods would be able to take the power safely and wont be too harsh on my wallet and at the same time keep the rotating assembly fairly light for the power it needs to handle? Yes the motor will be built to rev at least up to 9k and might upgrade to a gt3076 turbo later on. I do plan on utilizing the stock crank shaft so the stroke will be kept at 88mm.

For the users here that are running these parts (pistons and rods) on their cars, may I ask you guys how you feel about your motor and its current state of operation, in addition how much Wheel HP you're currently making? Also what do you guys do with your cars, i.e. drag strip, street, road course, etc...

Thanks very much in advice!

Oliver, Venoila, and Wiseco pistons are what the machines shops around here recommend most. You can't go wrong with Pauter or Carrillo rods, if you have the baller funds to make the purchase.

Bump

There are so many choices.

I'm kind of in a bind right now. Looking to make 380-450 to the wheels when I am done, but this is an unexpected expense that has popped up on me.

I hear good/bad about Eagle rods. Are they safe for ~400whp? Mind you, I'm on a real tight budget because this kind of "popped" up on me.

I'm also rather set on Wiseco pistons, but if there's a better/equal option that might be a few $$$ cheaper...

I got a killer deal on a block, head, ross pistons, eagle rods, gaskets and bearings all for 800 bucks. It's a 6 bolt for my talon. I'm gonna ditch the eagle rods and get something a little bit beefier. I've had luck with these rods in the past but I never pushed them past 600hp. Don't want to take any chances on this build.

Eagle/Manley/Scat = all H beam rods = same.
Eagle just underrated the hell out of them. They will hold 500hp.

If you are looking to save money or are in a pinch PM me for pricing.
I will check on it tomorrow.

just bought banodized Ross stroker pistons from SBR to complement my Crower rods. I will let u kno the results. ill be pushing them for 650whp minimum.
i noticed a lot of the big guys using aluminium rods but I figure that is not really to withstand the power but simply to ease up on the bearings, those guys spin their motors to ridiculous rpms...i think any of the rods/piston combos listed above should do just fine for 99% of the evo drivers out there..

if the rods are straight, run em.

Interesting observations in this thread, you're not going to bend a rod in normal service pushing only 400hp unless the tune is off.

I took a set of Chinese rods (basically the same thing eagle sells) and used and abused them in my volvo, even after cracking all four pistons from a nitrous accident, the rods were perfectly fine(cracking is a bit of an understatement, I came with in a hair of breaking in half down the middle). This was pushing in excess of 500rwhp.

For 600whp and down, I recommend either Wiseco or JE's new SRP Professional pistons. They are both good pistons and will run very similar to the OEM part (noise, etc.) but are forged and designed for high performance applications. The SRP Professionals are new, AMS is selling them now on their site:

http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/J...0-Pistons.html

http://www.jepistons.com/Catalogs/SR...ishi/4g63.aspx

They come with skirt coating now at no extra charge too. Nil's is using them in his new engine.
