Drive Belt Replacement

There's a discrepancy in the service schedule given in the owners manual. It states that the main drive belt should be replaced every 30k miles. The mitsubishi shop manual only stipulates a belt check (tension and resonate frequency check) at this interval -- even under the severe maintenance schedule.

Of course even the check requires special tools, a tension meter and a MUTIII.

Which do experienced engine builders think is the better action at 30k miles? It seems pretty early to be replacing that belt. On the other hand it's only like $50 from mitsubishiparts.com.

replaced mine at 30 k and then again at 60k. It's cheap enough and easy enough for the piece of mind.
