CEL came on tonite...
well i know the first thing everyone is going to ask is "what code?"
well im going to limp it to autozone or advance in the morning to get it scanned.
but here's what happened.
today was the first time i floored it with my new UICP. boost is usually at 18 psi via joep MBC. but today, the needle flew to 24 psi and the car immediately started to buck and i immediately let off. driving after that was fine.
i ate lunch and drove around a little more. the drive home was good felt fine. i exited the freeway and im waiting at the light on the ramp to turn left. then my RPMs started to dip and it felt like the car was going to die. i gave it a little gas and it revved back up. then the light turned green and i tried to go and it went into limp mode. kinda sputtering and hesitating in the 1100 to 1500 RPM range of first gear and then it would slowly but smoothly climb to 3000 RPM before sputtering and hesitating again. 3000 RPMs seems to be the limit from gears 1 to 3.
shortly after limp mode the CEL turned on. i drove about a mile and half and was back at the house. i popped the hood and broke out the flashlight. piping seems to be intact and i didnt hear any extra hissing. i'll have to check with the brake cleaner during daylight. rev without load seems smooth and sounds good. but i didnt rev high. oil pressure was good. oil temp and coolant temps are good. no excessive vibratings or noises. it also idles kind of rough now.
anyone have any ideas before i get it scanned?
mods are all the bolt ons minus DP. 272/272 cams and i am going for the tune on monday but i gotta get this fixed first.
any help would be great.
oh yeah 2005 with 30K miles

CHECK ALL YOUR intercooler clamps, mines popped out on the highway and did the same exact thing, right now your ECU is on safe mode and running very rich!, check the IC pips trust me
same exact thing, rev it, it chugged then reved up fine, but sputters when running at 3500 rpm in every gear cause not getting air.
oh btw get some T clamps at napa auto parts

If the intercooler pipes pops off or comes loose to a point where it spits out air, the car will misfire like crazy. When it misfires, it simply won't let you boost since the turbo is sucking out all the air from the motor while not much is comin in. That would most definitely throw a SES/CEL light since the car is misfiring over a long period of time. You would probably see black smoke sputtering out the exhaust from running ridiculously rich as it misfires and bucks. Triple check for boost leaks. Maybe when you hit 24psi, one of your pipes popped off.

well i went to advance and they wouldnt scan because of the rain. lazy.
anyways it drove much better today than it did last night. i came back home for a minute and was going to head to a friends house to use his garage to pull the bumper off and redo all the IC connections. i figured id go ahead and reset the ECU. well trying to start the car back up was something else. it just kept turning and turning. finally it started up with but horrible idle.
and it seems to be making a funny noise until i give it a little gas. like an assload of ticking. give it a little gas and it goes away. it only does it during idle.
i dont even think i can drive it right now.
