Question Solid Lifters Or Shiems?

WHAT WOULD YOU USE ON AN 2.0L 4G63 ENGINE TO BE MORE SAFE SOLID LIFTERS ADJUSTABLE OR SHIEMS AND WHY? JUST WANT SOME EXPERTS OPINIONS OR SOMEONE WHO USED THE ABOVE ON BIG HORSEPOWER CARS.

(I WAS READY TO USE THOSE BUT SOME GUYS ARE ARGUING NOT TO)

You're welcome.

Dave said neither adjustable solid or shimmed which pretty much means hydraulic. I would think he would qualify as an expert. I know he didn't give you a reason as to why but, I would believe him if he says you don't.

I've tested BLE and they are CRAP!

Now I'm going with JUN dittos, they are modified standard lifter + shims.

What was your problem with those and now you will use lifter-shims?

Same dramatic experience with BLE's, i risked to destroy the engine with them, they are prone to crack easily, and quite impossible to adjust with decent precision, almost as regards the set i had in my hands....
Now, even if David Buschur suggested me to keep hydraulic lifters ( unfortunately, i just ordered in Japan a set of Tomei solid pivots, adjustable by shims, together with dedicated springs and 280 solid cams with 11.8 lift ), i'm going to try the Tomei solid way, in theory the shims adjustment should work fine, i hope it will be the same in the real world....
I tried everywhere, but i haven't found yet anybody that just uses these cams,an opinion would be really appreciated....

The most powerfull 4G63s in the world use hydraulic lifters (John Shepherd,Brent Rau,David Buschur,AMS)!!!!I believe this is a proof that solids simply don't work! Are you planning to go faster from these guys?Untill you reach them just use stock lifters!!

I did not want to offend anybody, and btw i've just sent a head to Mr. David Buschur for a full work on it, as i think he's one of the best tuners in 4G63 world, and i've always been completely satisfied with parts i purchased from him, he gave me a negative though about solid lifeters, but unfortunately i just placed order in Japan for a set of Tomei solid cams and relative lifters, assuming that Tomei as usual is a serious brand i hope it will not be a waste of money....
In 4G63 world, btw, some samples of highly tuned cars with solid cams are present, Norris Designs uses them on green LWB Evo 9, and Jun's demo car also use solid cams and lifters...
I hope that Tomei solid cams can work also with hydraulic lifters, in that case i will use these instead of the solid pieces provided from Tomei....

What advantage do solid lifters typically allow?

generally they provide more precise valve actuation at high rpms/spring pressures. But they require more precise setup and maintenance (I believe) than hydraulics. Unless you're having your cam spec'd according to your head flow characteristic, intake, turbo, and specific application you're most likely not going to see any advantages to going with a full-out setup like that. But good luck, you seem to have your heart set on them.
