so anyone else out there running this set up with the Gruppe flywheel/ACT clutch? How is the pedal pressure/feel? Clutch engagement?

The flywheel will not change the pedal effort on the clutch,so it doesn't matter if the flywheel is the ACT, Gruppe S or stock. The pressure plate is related to the pedal effort and the disc combined with the pressure plate will affect how the clutch engages. The ACT HDSS pedal effort and engagement have been both disscussed at length numerous times.

I was more interested in how the two components work together and if there was anything negative I should know about. Im aware the pedal pressure has been discussed numerous times (Ive searched through the treads) but I didnt know the mechanics of the clutch and if the flywheel would effect that. Some times I think people on these forums just love to jump on people who may not know as much as them.....

For the main difference that I see between the ACT flywheel and the Gruppe-S flywheel has a smoother engagement surface so it takes a bit longer to break in than the ACT unit. After break in, I personally prefer the Gruppe-S flywheel over the ACT street.

Gary,
Smoother engagement surface? A flywheel needs to be broken in? Uhh...?

I guess as long as it is mated to an ACT clutch, it's all good. ; )

Hi Dirk,

That's what we're seeing with our flywheels. They work great with your ACT evo clutches!!

Cheers,

Gary

I have the ACT MB7-HDSS with the ACT prolight flywheel.I have about 1200 miles on it and absolutely love it. Stock like engagement(smooth as glass) not a sound coming from it under any conditions, and the car launches like a rocket without a hint of smell(if done right of course). I was told it might be to light(the flywheel) for a good ez launch and i might get high rpm lockout. None of this is true. The peddle pressure feels much better than stock,it grabs at the same point everytime, and the car shifts as smooth as can be even at 7800rpm,s. I would recommend this clutch and flywheel to anyone.

Our XTR6 kit (Xtreme p/pl, solid center 6 puck) is a lot stronger and probably less expensive, but it is also harsh engaging and overkill as most race clutches would be. Whatever clutch you choose, get the right one for the job.
